About 10 years…maybe longer. Not sure exactly.

3 years. 2003 was the big year that sites started requiring user registration. I resisted for as long as I could. Wild west internet was one of the greatest things mankind has ever created, and as we always do, we ruined it.
Thanks, Chicken.

I’d stumble across the OT anytime I’d google anything BR related (mechanic, restaurants, etc.). I’d read a few posts, get disgusted, and leave. I don’t know what changed, but I started to realize a lot of the comments here are like caricatures of real life and though it was amusing, so I grew thicker skin.
I created an account with no intention of posting (hence the stupid username). It was a couple years after that before I started commenting.

It didn't take long for this to be my all time favorite message board.

Maybe a couple days before my first post, but it was before you had to register.

I tried to join from the first time I logged on.
The TD system would never send me verification email.
Then one day it finally did....

Lurked for awhile, mainly for the baby threads.

over 10 years. this is a tough crowd. 1st time I posted under another user name I got doxed by a neighbor. Created a new alter and didn't post again for a very long time.

I joined one afternoon while at work during the "As the Plains Burn" days, so maybe ten minutes. Not sure who told me about that post and that I would enjoy reading the meltdown. There might have been a thousand posts on it when I joined. Probably made my first post there. Sometimes I wish I had thought more before joining as MeridianDog, since we no longer live in Meridian

Most "I have been lurking for years" new posts are alters. The "lurking" is a feeble attempt to explain why the poster seems to know so much about the board.

It’s been so long that I don’t remember specifically, but it was for quite a while. Probably a year+. Was active on other forums on the interwebs at the time and didn’t feel like joining another one, but checked in for things like recruiting information. Over time, TD replaced most of my other forum activity.

Seen this happen, my favorite is when the more active posters decide whose alter you are.
Some of the comparisons are hilarious.

ATPB saga on the SECrant brought me to this place in the fall of 2010. Lurked for a while just reading. Pulled the trigger a few months later & signed up.
