Saints should pursue Ben Johnson

I think he could do Derek Carr some good, if DA still wants to coach defense let him at it. If I were Mickey I’d be a calling

He is the hottest name in coaching, so he would have his pick of the litter. Why would he choose the Saints? Also, he is supposedly asking for $15 million a year.

The part you should question here is.....If you were Ben Johnson and coveted by several teams, which he will be. Would you choose the Saints whom are in serious cap hell and stuck with Carr(thanks loomis). DA is staying and not cause I want him too but because why not just let him get his arse kicked and move on to 2025 with actual selling points to prospective coaches. Sure, let DA get a new OC. It could help. Suprise, you still have Derek Carr

We gonna be shopping on the Ron Rivera (retread) and Kellen Moore (non-trendy names) aisle. And you know what, I'm ready to shop... let's make the move

No rising star coach is going to hitch his first NFL HC gig to this defunct franchise. Underhill reported 3 OC candidates this off-season declined a chance to interview here as they didn’t want to fail with DA as HC.
After we run DA again next year, I fully expect a retread hire along the lines of Josh McDaniel, Hue Jackson or Lovie Smith. The hot coordinators will not apply.

Not wanting to be an assistant under DA and landing a HC gig are 2 different things.
You dont have a HC vacancy unless things are shitty. Other situations are marginally better at best.

He will have his pick of where he wants to go. I would take the Chargers job because they already have a young franchise QB but Carolina will go all out for him. He’s my top pick but he’s not going to choose the Saints. I think we should go after Bobby Slowik.

Carolina is on their 3rd coach in as many years. If you vaule job security you wont go there.

No shot he comes here. He can have his pick of jobs. We have nothing to really offer.

It’ll be Dan Quinn.
Dan Quinn is an infinitely better coach than Allen. He’s every bit the DC and he actually hired competent offensive people. We all love that the dude lost the superbowl but he built a great roster overall. He’d be a Super Bowl champ had shamahan not had a second half stroke and ran it even a couple of times.
Dennis Allen will NEVER sniff being a Super Bowl coach.

fricking Einstein solved all our problems with something nobody has thought of.

I’d take Dan Quinn. I’d take Ben Johnson. I’d take Eric Bieniemy, Mike Caldwell, Todd Monken, Raheem Morris, Antonio Pierce, Bobby Slowick, Frank Smith, Press Taylor, Joe Bleymaier, or Ejiro Evero.
I want a leader who has a vision and holds people accountable.

A retread, but actually kinda exciting. He took one backwards-arse franchise to the SB...

Everyone's on the table!

He’s not coming to this shiteshow lol.
Our chance to be picky was two years ago when we were viewed as a winning organization. We blew it with Allen.

Dennis Allen is a historically bad coach. There are many better candidates than him.

Then based on some of the rumors out there, you don’t want Bieniemy

Nobody wants DA to stay but what real harm is there in him staying one more year??
Obviously it will suck for the organization but why bring in a new aspiring coach with expectations to come in and coach a team with aging talent and that’s in cap hell.
As much as I hate it, we need to lose these next two to improve draft position. Hopefully make moves to get younger via off-season and the draft and potentially ride DA, let him win 4-6 games next year and secure a top 8 draft pick THEN roll out the red carpet for the new coaching staff. This way they have a much better chance of actually being successful.
