A Catholic priest, Father Edward Beck, came on CNN on Christmas to say Jesus was a persecuted Palestinian -- and that the story of his birth contains parallels to what's going on in the Middle East.

He said the story of Xmas was actually one of a "Palestinian Jew" -- noting how extraordinary it is to hear those 2 words put together. Father Beck went on to say JC was born into an occupied country, and that his mother and father (Mary/Joseph) were forced to flee into Egypt as refugees ... which is technically correct, as far as the Bible's concerned.

Boy, I feel for his flock if that’s what he comes away with in studying Christ in scriptures. What a travesty.

I mean, philistine maybe, jew sure, roman you could argue. Romans renamed it and they were in control.

Guess you'd have to ask him and allegedly he said King of the Jews...so....

Persecuted eventually? Sure

“Palestinian”, maybe in a way yes but has nothing in common with todays Palestinians

“Can’t we just all get along?” I mean, I see what he’s trying to do, but something tells me it’s not going to help.

Prior to working at CNN, he was a media contributor for ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, HLN and MSNBC. He co-hosted Focus on Faith with Chris Cuomo for ABC News from 2009 to 2014.[2] Beck also leads retreats and workshops on spirituality.[1] He lives in New York City.[3]

quote:

Beck also wrote a play, Sweetened Water, which had a staged reading starring Vanessa Williams and Amy Brenneman at Playwrights Horizons theater in New York City in January 2015 and an Equity production in the summer of 2015 at Martha's Vineyard Playhouse in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. Subsequent readings featured Laila Robins, Josh Lucas, Sean Cullen, Nathan Darrow, Tricia Paoluccio and Meghann Fahy.

What the frick; they defrocked Frank Pavone for focusing too much on Priests for LIfe. They removed a bishop for being too conservative.

But this priest is allowed to be a full-time media pundit and playwrite entertaining the rich folks up at Martha's Vineyard?

Do not like this pope.

There is no such thing as a 'Palestinian'.

First, the Israeli people have been in the land of Judea for over 4000 years.

Before 135 AD, the area was referred to as Judea.

After the second Israeli 135 AD revolt failed, Roman Emperor Hadrian renamed the area 'Syria Palaestina' as an insult to the revolting Israeli's and in an effort to stamp out Israeli identity.
