A Catholic priest, Father Edward Beck, came on CNN on Christmas to say Jesus was a persecuted Palestinian -- and that the story of his birth contains parallels to what's going on in the Middle East.

He said the story of Xmas was actually one of a "Palestinian Jew" -- noting how extraordinary it is to hear those 2 words put together. Father Beck went on to say JC was born into an occupied country, and that his mother and father (Mary/Joseph) were forced to flee into Egypt as refugees ... which is technically correct, as far as the Bible's concerned.

Boy, I feel for his flock if that’s what he comes away with in studying Christ in scriptures. What a travesty.

I mean, philistine maybe, jew sure, roman you could argue. Romans renamed it and they were in control.

Guess you'd have to ask him and allegedly he said King of the Jews...so....

If what you come away with after reading scriptures is race or ethnicity with Jesus, then you missed every single solitary thing about the message of the gospels as well as exactly who Jesus Christ IS.

Jesus Christ incarnate was, in fact, a jew. He also lived in what some would consider modern day "Palestine". Quit acting like making this simple observation is some form of blasphemy or heresy. shite like that is what turns many people away from religion.

He lived in Egypt as well.

There is no such thing as modern day Palestine. Like saying you live in modern day Prussia.

Well, Bathlehem is in the West Bank, which is Palestinian.

Nazareth is just outside of the West Bank and has a lot of Palestinian's living in it.

Saying Palestinian "Jew" when Christianity and Islam hadn't been invented yet is redundant, every one in that area was Jewish, Philistinian, or Canaan. If you simply listen to the words "Palestine" and "Philistine" you can hear how similar they are.

The state of Isreal did not exist until less than 100 years ago. The borders of it were much smaller than today and who lived there before the state of Isreal were... you guessed it, Palestinians who were Jewish, Muslim, and Christian.

The only person to feel sorry for is a dumbarse like you who can't look at frickin google maps.

I think believers are beyond exhausted by their so-called “leaders” endlessly lusting for respectability from the secular world.

Persecuted eventually? Sure

“Palestinian”, maybe in a way yes but has nothing in common with todays Palestinians

quote:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

JOHN 1:1-14

Jesus Christ is not a Palestinian Jew. He is God. To trivialize who Jesus IS by referring to him as a race or ethnicity is to miss out on who Jesus is, which is the foundation for salvation itself, for if you don’t believe upon Him and who He said He is, then there is no salvation, so yeah, it’s critical to salvation itself to recognize who Jesus Christ is.

What childishness this conversation is.

Judea existed before Syria Palestine or Macedonia Palestine. The names were merely area occupied by the tribes. No different than American tribal areas that are now legally denoted.
