Why wouldn't he be serious? Impressive resume.

I know little about Rhoads ... all I remember is watching the end of the Pitt - WV game last yr (the game that let LSU sneak into the NC game) and Pitt's defense was all-out blitzing, and as usual when you blitz, it worked. Anyone else remember that? So, I don't know if that one game is indicative of his coaching style. How did Auburn's defense do this year ... that would be a good barometer of Rhoads' likely success as a DC at LSU. He would be pretty high on my list. Dicking around though as LSU is at present may only result in some other school hiring him. And yes, I am a Miles' fan, but I consider his current course of inaction to be --quote -- dicking around -- end quote.

now that i look it up Auburn was better than i thought they would be. number 15 overall, one spot behind Ole Miss and 4 behind Tenn. i guess i just see 8 years at Pitt as more of a detriment than an attribute. even being in the same room as Dave Wandstadt is embarrassing. for the record i still want Nix from Ole Miss. guys a home run.

Other than his ONE year under the tutelage of TT, the most impressive thing on there:

That doesn't say much IMO.

Except of course, for those times when the opposing team's OC anticipates your blitz, calls a play with a short 3-step drop for his QB with a quick release and your blitzing wonders are staring over their respective shoulders as the OC's speedy receiver streaks to the end zone for 6.

Yeah, as usual when you blitz, it worked ... for the offense on the other team.

Duh? You kinda sorta need to know when to blitz and when not to blitz. Saban confused the hell out of Tebow in the first quarter when on 3rd and long he only rushed 2 and dropped 9. Result? 4th down and punt.

Blitz, blitz, blitz, blitz all the time will get you the record for the most yards per play allowed against your defense. What makes the blitz so damn effective is in having a DC who knows how to design 'em AND when to call 'em. Period.
