You can replace the title with ISS: you will drink the piss and crap water
Whats the functional difference between that, and dumping treated sewage into the Mississippi that is later reused.
Remember it being a talking point that it’s gone through like 5 sets of kidneys by the time it hits New Orleans.

This is nothing new. In the late '90s Santa Monica had a plant built and operational, ready to distribute into the municipal system. People went crazy, despite bring shown the the treated black water was actually cleaner than what the were currently using.
All of the water went to irrigating freeway landscaping yard watering.

you people have no idea of the power of reverse osmosis membranes or UV disinfection
when yall bitch about wastewater to potable it makes you look insanely unintelligent
this is a very sustainable solution and should be embraced

Got news for you. Unless you are drinking well water, the water you have in your tap likely came from water with fecal matter in it.

Direct potable reuse is coming for the entire west. Plus what do you think you are drinking when you drink tap water in New Orleans which gets its drinking water from the Mississippi or if your drinking water supply comes from a body of water or river? It almost assuredly has treated wastewater being discharged into it.

The only difference is recycled waste water has never been discharged into a waterway (and then processed and treated.

The only difference now is man/machines are doing the purifications versus the earth.
All the water on earth not captured in some way like being frozen since before animals existed has been recycled through animal bodies millions of times.
I am far more concerned about industrial and other chemical waste in drinking water than I am urine and fecal matter. Our bodies are better equipped to handle modest amounts of animal waste but not so much when it comes to hormones and HMW organic waste and byproducts.

River water is cleaner than Outfall water. But after making it Potable, it should be fine either way.
