I hope you are right, but I’m trying to prepare myself to be let down.

House is not going to be the DC. He is gone after or before the bowl game. CBK is after a DC that has a bowl game to finish then we will all know. House had his chance and $hit the bed.

IF he comes back I have faith he can dramatically improve the unit.

-I believe in Brian Kelly, he knows what a good DC looks like, been solid his whole career in this respect.
-Last years schedule was much tougher than next years (4 teams that finished top 12 AWAY from home)
-perfect shite storm with none of the DB transfers working out (except Zy, hurt), unlikely to happen again.
-No DL coach last year, won’t happen again.
-Will almost certainly end up with more talent & experience on that side of the ball next year.
-House did a really solid job in 22, didn’t forget how to coach football.

I’m not saying he will (or should be) retained, again I have faith in CBK, but if he is it’s not hard to be reasonably optimistic about a big turnaround.

The DC had the players in position to make a tackle or PBU often. Players make plays, they didn't. #1 and #2 made House's defense terrible.

Just remember last year a lot of these people wanted Denbrock fired and JD benched. Said Denbrock sucked and couldn't coach in the SEC. And those same people were concerned House would get hired away after 2022. He obviously didn't forget how to coach. There are so many factors that affected the defense this year. If Bk replaces him that's fine, if he doesn't then he damn sure better improve the defense next year or BK will feel the heat.

Hopefully the delay in getting rid of him is the next guy is still coaching a playoff team or in the NFL.

Maybe his scheme works well with more senior players, but I'm not confident he can get inexperienced players to play fast without overthinking and out of position.

What has House done to inspire confidence? He was bad in year 1 giving up over 30ppg to P5 opponents and even worse in year 2 fielding arguably the worst D in program history.

this is so true..... funny how players improving and players leaving changes the narrative.

We need better players and position coaches. I'm not convinced that House is the real problem. He did fine in 22.

I'll tell you who doesn't have any faith, and it is showing up in the portal recruiting....and that is all these stud D players around the country, some even from LA that are in the portal and highly ranked.
House and D team showed that they do not develop or scheme such to put even a decent product on the field. They had the entire season to get it right and they never did. Not one D player improved over the course of the year, and some of our very best players actually looked and played much worse.
Even if House could improve, he can't get the players to come that will help him significantly improve, and at this point, that is the crux of the problem.
LSU has to have a fresh start even for no other reason than to give the players in portal or HS a hope that things on D at LSU will change. No great player wants to be part of a team/unit that is considered by almost everyone in America as awful. Simple as that!

I have faith.

The defense this year was not going to be good regardless of the DC. The talent was lacking to begin, then injuries decimated us. The back end was so bad, he had to keep trying different things to protect them, but it didn't work.
By trying to protect the back-end, he made the front 7 less effective.

Additionally, he had no d-line coach and very inexperienced position coaches elsewhere.

If we get some decent position coaches and a few players to plug the holes, we are not as far away as people think. The thing most people don't realize is that a couple of weaknesses can be the difference between a good defense and a horrible defense. We still have talent up front. We still have talent that is developing at linebacker. We need some guys who can play the outside so everyone else can play as intended.

**Shorter version - add some better position coaches and get a couple of actual good players to plug the weaknesses and I think House is fine. He was good at Kentucky and was well respected in the NFL by people who know more than any of us. You don't forget how to coach overnight.

Dumbest narrative constantly parroted on here lol.

Dude is #5 in the SEC in TFL, #1 in FF and #1 among all LBs in PFF coverage grade.

People are upset that he wasn’t just sitting in the middle of the field spying QBs all year like he was last year. He actually played football this season, and he was damn good at it. Blindly looking at sacks is dumb.
