So last year when Jayden was also the starter and it was still the 2022 season why did he and Nuss alternate drives? That was with him likely coming back by the way making your point even more stupid.
So by your logic Nuss and Collins should alternate drives in this game right?

Not quite. Collins isn't the presumed starter for next year. If it was Nuss' last season I would say Collins or whomever should start the bowl. Collins should get the backup reps though, but that only happens as well if Nuss gets the starting ones.

Bryce Young played in the Sugar Bowl last year it did not hurt Milroe
Milroe was dog food the first half of the season. One could argue that he hits the ground running in '23 if he had that extra month practicing with the ones and getting the start in the bowl.

One could argue that, one would be pretty stupid if one thinks 3 weeks with a few extra reps at the end of last season would have made a difference but one could argue it. I wonder if one realizes even the back ups attend practice and even participate.

This is so overrated. He’s been in the program for 2 years. He will get plenty of reps in the spring especially if he’s the starter. Bryce Young played in the Sugar Bowl last year it did not hurt Milroe
Uh, the Milroe that was benched earlier this year? Ok.....

Didn't miss anything. You saying it provides no benefit is dumb. The coaches would disagree with you.
You miss every thing since you live in zero sum world. We are still talking about next year. The difference between a QB being successful or not is not based on a few extra practices 9-10 months before next season. If the coaches disagreed then they would give the back ups and underclass men all the reps in bowl practice.
quote:
Then why bother playing backup QBs at all? Apparently in game reps mean nothing. Playing week 0 means nothing. Playing in bowls means nothing. Playtime in general means nothing. Hell why even practice.
Here again you completely miss the point. First of all the back ups do practice they do get reps. It is not necessary for them to play in games at the end of blow outs to get “experience” it doesn’t matter. Like a lot of fans you seem to assume if we don’t see it it doesn’t happen. All the players practice they all go to film study and work outs. They coaches know what they are capable of.

Seems more like that's your MO and I do feel sorry for you. I wasn't active during that fight so that's your thing not mine. Stop assuming things about others or rather implying malicious intent in substitute of discourse.
Are you serious with this
All I said originally was a backup/ probable starter for next year playing in the bowl doesn’t matter and you said
“Just be honest you don't want him to play” and when I said especially if he’s the start next year “Get over it”
You are the one assuming things about others and accusing me of malicious intent.
After seeing a couple of your post it wouldn’t surprise me if you are an alter of Tiger Ree

The coaches literally split reps between JD and Nuss last year. I bet BK will do the same even if Jayden decides to play.

That's not the point. Again you seem to think practicing something for real doesn't make a difference when it does. Both Jayden and Burrow had to go through a year of learning and mistake making before improving year 2.

How is it possible to contradict yourself that directly in literally the next sentence? Your argument that live reps and 3 weeks of practice don't matter is silly. It's not a stretch to think you simply don't want Nuss to see the field and are hoping he won't be the starter next year. I'd check your post history, but I don't really care. If you were just a believer that practices and live reps are pointless (which is absurd) you wouldn't be so aggressively attacking those who feel otherwise.

Holy frick. So don’t play to win the game. That’s what you want to sell to the guys who don’t have eligibility next year. Thank you for your service but go frick yourselves we need to see what we have next year.
Lets sell that to recruits. We want you to play here. Until you are an NFL prospect. After that we want you to get the frick out so we can try to win a game with players who aren’t as good as you.
Wow.

Bowl games outside the playoffs and possibly New Years 6 are essentially glorified exhibitions at this point. I completely agree with Pate (though I usually despise the guy) that these should really be moved to the next season as preseason games. Spring games should also be worked into exhibitions against other teams. Far more benefit that way and why do you assume you can't win the game with next year's guys? You still play to win.

Why would you assume that? The disrespect toward players on the roster is thick. I guess the team just goes downward year after year until you're left with guys who don't even know what football is?

. Fourth, I think it's best for the program that Nuss get weeks of practice as #1 and get valuable game experience going into next season.
Nuss already determined being able to practice leading up to, and playing, in a bowl game was not important.

Daniels, Nabers, and Thomas are still on the roster. It is still the 2023 season. If those dudes want to play they play. Period.

For you football is all about money. How much does it add to my value? For most people, they play football because they love it. It’s fun. It’s a game. Maybe he actually enjoys playing. Your whole life doesn’t have to be about money dude.

You do realize we are talking about what's in the best interest of the program and what we personally want right? The coaches aren't gonna say no if they wanna play. This is all opinion and hypothetical.

All of our lives revolve around money and this isn't a hobby for them it's a profession.

Sure do. But I have a good feeling that what you want is not what’s going to happen.

Never said it would. As of now I think Jayden is likely to not play since he's made no indication he will while others have. Also he's not at the practices. If he does I think BK will play it like last year with the split series' or something beyond just waiting for the game to be out of hand. Regardless of what happens I'll enjoy the game.

Why I do want JD5 to play in bowl - I’m just a hardcore LSU fan that always wants to watch our best players on the field

Milroe started against A&M last year, he attempted 53 passes, curious why would starting the Bowl game have set up for success from the start of the 2023 season but starting 2 months earlier did not?

Because it's not this experience vs that experience. All experience is cumulative and the more you have, the more likely the light is to come on if it's going to come on.
