Herbstriet is a shill for ESPN. At the end of the day, he’s always going to set “his” opinion to that of the brand.

I mean, if you want to be honest you could probably put FSU, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Missouri and hell maybe even LSU as the number 4 seed in the playoffs, have them matchup against Michigan and the Texas-Washington winner and have a greater than 25% percent chance of that team winning the playoff.

Its funny when FSU went ahead of The U in 2000 after Dorsey and the boys beat the Noles and FSU went instead of a deserving Canes team to the BCS Championship where they lost to Oklahoma

To go back 24 years into a completely different era of playoff selection just proves that he knows hes making a weak arse point

Then why play the season?

What did FSU fight for all year only to be told by ESPN...sorry, Texas screwed you even though you never played them...because we have to take Bama regardless and then obviously Texas.

Again with this old fallback that has graced Saban like gold dust, with only 1 unbeaten season but a million MNCs because of ESPN.

The king of second-chances and do-overs, never held accountable. The old joke, you have to beat Alabama twice and three times on Sunday to keep them from sniffing the trophy.

I like this retort to Kirk and the ESPN mafia:

quote:

Now maybe if ‘Bama had not lost by a 34-24 margin to Texas at home, a game in which the Longhorns drained the last seven minutes of the clock without scoring, or needed a miraculous Hail Mary on fourth-and-goal from 31 yards away to beat Auburn, you could make a better case to put the Crimson Tide in the CFP.

And while the selection criteria allow for an injury to a star player like Travis to impact how a team is evaluated, the rejection of unbeaten FSU after its defense totally dominated a Louisville offense (that averaged over 30 points a game) in the ACC title game simply feels wrong.

You think FSU is better than Alabama with a 3rd string qb? All the Noles had to do was beat Louisville, something to the effect of 27-6 , and they would be in. The Noles SOS caught up with them too. Their best win was against a 3 loss LsU team, that had a terrible defense. BTW, it's best win was against trash Mizzou. Rarely doni listen to anything Herbie says, but he's right.

And here is the problem with this committee playoff shite. If you are one of the best then you are inherently deserving.

Like others said, subjective eye test is a fall back excuse to put who they want.

Where he hits the nail on the head is when he's stating if the call is for your team versus against your team. People get behind their teams so when decisions like this go against your team then there has to be a bias. If it's for your team then the right decision was made. This is just a really tough situation regardless of who the committee selected.

Hopefully game day goes to FSU at somepoint. That would be an electric show. Lucky for the crew LSU already forced them to have a net 25 years ago

The basis for the rankings should always be resume. Wins, losses, strength of schedule.

That’s exactly why Herbstreit says in his Tweet that people should tell the conference commissioners to demand that the committee change its standard to something besides “4 best teams.” People keep “parroting” that line because that’s the standard that the committee has publicly said they apply.

This isn’t exactly 2022 UGA. I really don’t understand why people think this is a foregone conclusion.

I’m not an FSU fan, what they did to FSU is criminal. And frankly, it’s not that tough of a situation. They wouldn’t have to continually defend putting Florida St. in like they’re currently doing for Alabama. They know they fricked up, they know they made a deal with the devil.

Kirk is a corporate whore. He’ll toe that company line straight to hell.

You think Kirk doing a full drunk rant on a random fan with 40 followers is a good look?

UGA has no argument at all. Previous seasons are meaningless. Weak schedule, lost their play in game. Don’t pass the eye test.

FSU is UGA but without the loss.

UGA has no argument at all? You can apply the Bama logic with UGA and easily put them in the top four

Does anyone really think UGA isn’t better than Michigan or Texas or Washington though? That’s my hang up with the “best team” argument

If Georgia’s offense played like they did against Alabama, all those teams would have a really good shot at beating them. They were not good—downright bad for 50 minutes. Their corners are a huge weakness too.

This was a year with no dominant teams. Feel like a 12 team playoff would yield some wild outcomes.

Yep, Herbie ain't wrong. Two teams jumped FSU for those final playoff seeds. Herbie was asked who it would be just before the reveal and he nailed it. BAMA and Texas are better and both qualify as BEST.

When you win the biggest game of the season and come from the BEST conference for the last 20 years, this is what you get. So why the continued debate?

It's ALABAMA, the gold standard and the flagship of the SEC. This is BAMA's 8th time in the 10-year playoff. They were just pronounced dead by the rant once again and it turned out, again, that BAMA is still one of the 4 BEST teams.

Herbie got it right, again. And the only thing that really feels broke is the rant.
