I love when people say they know the family and then start talking and all you can do is laugh. It’s different to say hi to one another but don’t know anything about them.
His dad really took over Gavin’s future when he was 10. Researched everything and made a plan to get him out of Vinton with a short stop in Sulphur and then was offered a great job at Sasol which allowed them to get to where he wanted to play. I’m not 100% but I think he was still in Vinton when he played in Sulphur. His whole family is from Vinton with plenty of addresses. You are correct about the ages that he made moves. Great family and his dad was huge in providing him with everything he needed to make his dream come true.

Gavin’s sister was a good softball player but really excelled at volleyball at Barbe. She had offers to play in college but it’s funny how things happened. Gavin’s junior year she brought a guy to a wedding and you could tell something was different. That night I met Brody for the first time and he was a big deal. He was just awarded LGPOTY and signed with LSU and she fell hard. He was actually in Love and didn’t know it yet. We know how his career ended at LSU because he had her living with him and couldn’t care less about baseball. Same thing with her athletic mind. Gavin and Brody are completely different though. I’ve never been around anyone like Gavin in my life. He is a special kid and natural leader. He is so driven by his only goal and has a strong mindset that makes him work 24/7 to live his dream. He also started dating a girl right after he got to Baton Rouge. We got worried when he brought her home to the family because he hadn’t ever before. Luckily they are both athletes with dreams and they push each other and make sure they are working harder than ever. Big relief to everyone

Last thing, Barbe is a money pit. They have the top technology and the facilities are better than some colleges. Equipment that will read every move you make. I’ve been lucky enough to have been there numerous times with Gavin and my son who is blown away to be workout with him. Gavin is really special and never fails to bring my son whenever we are both in town. My son is 14 and has worked with him before and after he blew up and hasn’t changed a bit. He sneaks into town more than people know and my son just got to toss with Gavin and Paxton when he invited him to his family’s house for the holiday since he couldn’t go back to Pennsylvania.

My son is only 7. We live in Moss Bluff. He has made All-Stars every year since he started playing. South Lake Charles is always in that tournament and those kids are NO JOKE! At 5 years-old for tball, the SLC Coaches would blow a whistle and the whole team would shift on the field. It was INSANE to see that in such young kids! They win that All-Star tournament every year. This year, their A team won State and their B team came in 2nd.
If anyone doubts how good the kids in the area are, they can look up the Titans travel ball team record. Those are also the kids from SLC that moved from rec to travel ball. Crazy talented! My son is in his 1st year with the Sticks and watching the Titans is wild! They didn’t have tryouts for his age bracket because all their players are returning.

Ok.. so they don't "recruit" per the rules, but they host a tryout and let parents know their kid made the team. The parents then have so long to move into the district.
I'm sure there's some help along the way to find people homes.
