Both coached took over in bad situations. Both were left with very poor rosters and looming NCAA sanctions

Year one Brady 9-18, 2-14
Year two Brady 12-15, 4-12
Year three Brady 28-6, 12-4 SEC title
Stromile Swift and Jabari Smith led the way.

Year one MM 14-16, 2-14
Year two MM 5-4 ??, ??????
Year three MM ???????

So far MM is doing about what Brady did, but keep in mind MM had a huge advantage in that there is the transfer portal and there is NIL

It’s too early to render judgment on McMahon, but it’s obvious our administration put the program back to where we were when Brown was fired.

There are no looming sanctions and the talent level currently on the team dwarfs what Brady had in his first 2 seasons.

John Brady's teams actually tried and gave a frick his first two years.

I get the record comparisons but it really ends at that. It is fricking insulting to compare McMahon to John Brady as a coach and as a motivator. Brady had energy unlike McMahon. We are fricking doomed.

Not to mention, McMahon has an incredibly difficult SEC and amazing SEC coaches to deal with.

You can GTFO with this bullshite.

I wasn’t a Brady Roller coaster fan. Long time posters here know that. I wanted some consistency for the program. My bad, we got it now. Bottom dwelling.

It’ll take CoachMc 4 seasons to win 10 SEC games total.

We could literally pick someone off this web site to coach and 11 guys from a MBB REC league and get better results MM is a garbage coach

I just think McMahon deserves as much time as needed because he has such a good family.

Despite Brady’s record his first two years, the improvement was obvious. They played solid defense , took good shots , and were fundamentally sound. He just needed talent.

I don’t know where to start with this post.

1. There are no “looming sanctions”. They’ve already been given. In essence, the sanctions are the loss of ONE scholarship for each of the next two seasons. That’s it.

2. Brady did not have the transfer rules available now. That severely limited his ability to build a roster quickly. He was left with just JUCO and HS signee avenues.

I don’t think some comprehend how quickly a program can be rebuilt with the transfer rules today. Look no further than the program LSU lost to today. Last year their HC inherited a roster with LESS returning players than McMahon had last season. And those players weren’t leftovers from a NCAAT team. They were leftovers from a program that had not had a winning season in three years. Yet, through transfers the team was completely rebuilt to the point where they were an eyelash away from the Final Four last season.

So save the BS that enough time hasn’t passed to judge McMahon. Patience is not a virtue in this new eras of college basketball and his team is not only losing l, but is among the bottom 25% of power conference programs.

He is going to have to rebuild a roster again next season. Thus far, he has not proven he can in two tries. So why will next year be better?
