4-loss #21 Tennessee gets 3-loss #17 Iowa. Meanwhile, 3-loss #13 LSU gets 5-loss unranked Wisconsin?

That just doesn't make any fricking sense.

siap

ETA:

frick ME. I didn't mean bowl, I meant opponent.

Why can't LSU get rankled opponents in a bowl game? Purdue, Wisconsin, really? WTF?

Because LSU went to the Cheez-It Bowl in January and didn't sell many tickets.

After the NY6 it's all about matchups, prospective ticket sales, and who's been where more recently. There is no rule about where you placed in the SEC going to specific bowls anymore. It would have been our third time in Orlando in 12 months. That's why we didn't go to the Citrus Bowl

LSU was placed in Tampa because LSU played in Orlando for last year’s Citrus and this year’s opener. Bowls are about tickets sold and tourism, too. Selling LSU fans on a third football trip to Orlando in 365 days is tough.

Tampa gives you a Saints/LSU doubleheader on back-to-back days, if you’re inclined, though the Saints aren’t worth watching right now.

That would be our 3rd game in Orlando in a year.

They got Oregon playing Liberty because they certainly did not want LSU blowing out Oregon after Texas destroys Washington.

It would lay bare how rediculous the polls are and expose the money behind the travesty.

You lose to Indiana you should not be in a bowl, much less a New Year's Day bowl.

It's about butts in seats and viewership, also sometimes, luck. I read about 3 eligible bowls wanting Notre Dame when FSU fell to the NY6, so the ACC put the names in hat, shook it up, and the Sun Bowl was the winner... I'm being serious.

I wanted to get a win over a ranked team as well, anything that can bump us into the top 10 to finish the season.

They know Daniels isn't going to play so they lowered LSU bowl and opponent.

If JD isn't playing this is the best bowl for us. Not sure I would want Nuss's first start to be against Iowa's defense. This gives him a game against a traditionally good power 5 team but not so good a defense this year. In fact probably gives JD a good opportunity not to play as he wouldn't feel the need to play and help LSU win. It would be over by halftime if he played.

The most upsetting is the perfect matchup was lost.
