Sucks to be Florida State. But, the selection committee got it right.
College football is and has mostly always been about the polls. As such any fan knows that one’s last performance leading to the weekly Sunday polls have a significant bearing on the standing in that poll. Florida St was lack luster. Chit happens. Get over it.
To those of you say that Bama shouldn’t have jumped Florida St, spit the Kool Ade out. It’s poison. There’s no rule that prevents a lower ranked team from jumping a higher ranked team in a subsequent poll.
To begin with Bama beat a much better team than Florida St. Number 1 vs what number 14?
Then look at performance. Bama’s offensive performance was far superior against a better opponent than FSU. They scored 3 TD’s and 2 FG’s vs 1 TD and 3 FG’s against a much better better defense.
Suppose that’s not good enough reason for Bama to be picked over FSU then look at the selection protocol which the ACC accepted and bound FSU since the are an ACC member school.
From the CFP website:
When circumstances at the margins indicate that teams are comparable, then the following criteria must be considered:
Championships won
Strength of schedule
Head-to-head competition (if it occurred)
Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)
Both won their conference.
Bama’s SOS was significantly more difficult
No head to head matchup
The only common opponent was LSU whom the both beat by comparable margins.
So in reality the only two arguments for taking AFSU over BAMA is their records and the fact that AFSU was ranked higher the day before the selection. That’s weak and furthermore neither arguments are part of the agreed upon selection protocol.
On the other hand, FSU assumed that all they had to do was win and they would be selected. So they took the field and played only as well as it took to beat the weakest opponent fielded in all of the Power-5 conference championship games.
For the minimal effort FSU was rewarded with the lowest ranking of a Power-5 champion.

The only folks calling us crybabies here are the usual trolls, alters of other fanbases, and the occasional Bama fan that posts here
shite’s hysterical

Then get rid of rankings before Championship weekend. What's the point of the rankings when you drop even though you win? We all know why they screwed FSU, to keep an SEC team in the playoffs.

This needed another thread?

It’s not just the QB that’s hurt. Their two stud LBs are wrecked and they have defensive starters out too. They are a broken team, a shell of the team that played LSU. CFB fans are better off with the decisions made today. It will be a good playoff this year and as a CFB fan, I can’t wait.

You sound like an A&M fan propping up Alabama. Congratulations

Lot of Participation trophy adults down voting.
What part of fsu played zero acc teams during the regular season with 3 losses or less do those short bus people not realize? Every acc opponent they played during regular season had 4 losses or more.

You know football far more than the naysayers who responded to your all too true comment. It's Dec 30, 2023 and currently watching Georgia crush ego-driven FSU and it's only the 2nd quarter. What a waste of Florida taxpayer money Florida politicians spent trying to get this team to play for the national championship. FSU may be the best in Florida but that's not saying much! LOL!
