Lashlee is in a unique position at SMU right now. It’s a program moving up, getting an infusion of cash from both boosters and a new conference, and he’s able to build the program to his specifications.
The portal will continue to be very beneficial to SMU. DFW produces a ton of talent. Even if he loses out on guys initially, many local kids see SMU as a viable transfer option.

SMU agreed to get zero ACC TV money for like 10 yrs. They will be all booster supported until then.
In saying that, SMU will never go back to its glory days. There simply isn't a big enough fanbase anymore for that school. Their stadium is also still pretty tiny by P5 standards. They are a solid G5 program but will not be able to compete against the big guns of the ACC unless their boosters offer double what other schools do.
