There are basically Holly Beach and Rutherford Beach. The "surfer" beach was Dung Beach back in the 60's and 70's. Nickname due all the cow shite on the beach from wintering herds.

McNeese Chem prof, JD Tauber, had a camp there at the end of the small row of camps. One Monday morning he came into class cussing us out and saying why can't we do it in the sand like they did when he was young. Apparently, someone broke in just to use his bed to have fun.

Family owns two lots of land At Rutherford Beach since the 50s. One lot was the last lot to the West before the cattle guard.(Pre Rita) after Rita, we can’t find our property as they are under water. My grandpa still pays his taxes on the property every year! My parents still bring the grandkids in the summer. Lots of great memories growing up in that dirty water.
