is your opinion we keep BI over one of those 3? there's no way that all of them stay and stay happy with playing time, especially once contract times roll around for those younger guys
I have no hard and fast opinions on how this team will look in the future, until I see how it looks fully healthy over a period of time. Tonight is the first game we have been somewhat close to full health, and even then there was no Jose or Nance. But finally, for the first time this year all our core pieces were out there. I want to see how it meshes before I have a fully informed opinion on what we need to do in the future. Hawk has looked great but it’s only been 20 games. I need to see if Trey’s added muscle means he can play the 4 or 5 in small ball lineups. Because to me it sure as hell isn’t a FACT that Trey can’t play the 4 or even 5 for parts of the game. Suddenly that logjam you have at 2-3 isn’t as crowded. And I need to see if Zion can stay healthy for the majority of the season. All these things and a lot more are still unknown.

It’s usually a bad idea to get rid of a guy that you know can be a legit closer in a playoff game. He is the only one on the team that’s proven he can do it.

yes, he's definitely leading us to the promised land...
look, he's a nice player... but he's plateaued... straight up, this is what he is... he's not going to improve much, if at all, from what we have right now... Trey, upside out the arse.... we both know it... Hawkins, has that factor and has been better than advertised so far... Herb, with his improved shot he's almost indispensible... these guys are our future....
BI may not be moved this year, and I'm ok with that.... but in the long run, we need to move him, get what we can, and build around those 3, along with Zion

There are some reasons why an Ingram trade would make sense. But do you think the guy who is actually in control of these decisions, David Griffin-- do you think he would trade Ingram? Mr. Loyalty and Brotherhood is #1 priority?
Also- can you give some examples of potential trades you would like to see?

Why are you talking about Ingram like he’s some ancient relic
Ingram just turned 26 in September and Murphy turned 23 in June. Ingram made his first all-star team at 23, I do not see Trey doing that.
Trey is a phenomenal player, but his skill set gets maximized because of the guys around him. He’s not putting the ball on the floor and creating for others, Ingram is.
Does Ingram need to be better in some areas? Absolutely. But so does everyone on the damn team.

Suppose you want to trade Ingram. You need to get a better player or close, who wants to play here.
A lot of people looking for that unattainable center.

I’ve been on of the biggest trade Ingram stans on this board, but if he keeps up the play he has lately then I don’t see a reason to move him besides what his next contract will cost (it will be horrendous).
Now if he continues to struggle to score and tries to revert back to the iso ball hog bullshite? Then yeah, ship him to Detroit for Bogi, Ivey and Stewart, but he continues this play, we have to keep him and figure out the money side later.

Dude even Jordan had nights where his shot wouldn’t fall. I suppose you levitate instead of walk like the rest of us.

I’m glad to see this post has an appropriate number of downvotes
Did he have a bad game? Hell yes.
But there’s a big difference between having a bad game because your shot isn’t falling and having a bad game because you’re making bad decisions/not trying
This was obviously the former, and he had 15 potential assists as well

his value to us is what can he bring back as far as a trade
3 weeks ago, I would have agreed with this.
But it's clear that after the team meeting, he has made a serious commitment to be part of the system. He is doing a much better job of keeping the ball moving, giving much better effort on defense, and is clearly working better with Zion. He is playing exactly how I hoped he would the last couple of years. It's incredibly unlikely to receive equal value for a bought in Brandon Ingram.
I expect that Benson will pay what's required when Trey, BI, and Zion are playing to their potential. It's one thing to not spend excessively in FA or trades, but to not pay when homegrown players excel, is a horrible message to the team and fans.

Ingram is a great teammate. An eight-year vet that can drop 30 consistently but allows his teammates to get their rhythm, coming off injuries, without forcing his game. This is what some posters don't get, it is a team game and that kind of shite is infectious.

There's still not enough data to be able to determine what we are with Ingram yet. Hoping to find out in May and June.

Ingram catches way too much shite if
he plays anything less than outstanding in one game. It’s really odd.

For sure that's an opinion. The data says BI is consistent 23-5-5 and raises his game at high-leverage moments.

It's about May and June with this team. I want to see what his play looks like with a healthy Zion in the playoffs. That means more to me than any regular season stat.

Very well said. It speaks volumes to how loved and respected a teammate he is when you see a guy like Josh Hart show up to the arena the night after he was traded and he’s wearing a Brandon Ingram jersey. In no sport is chemistry more important than basketball. It’s why a guy like James Harden is a cancer despite his obvious talent. It needs to be a huge factor in personnel decisions. Not the only factor by any stretch, but one that needs to be considered.

Over 80% of Murphy’s conversion are assisted. Unless I miss something and he creates his own offense as well as distributes to others, he and Ingram are not some interchangeable duo. They really have nothing to do with each other tbh

This has nothing to do with Ingram. But my opinions on Trey's offense and his highly assisted scoring shouldn't be looked at negatively at all.
Because his development isn't finished. You saw an array of the arsenal last night and some of that is new. You saw creation, drive and kick, you saw movement, and you saw on ball ability.
He's always going to be a highly assisted shooter/finisher since he's such a deadly and efficient shooter all the way out to 30 feet and has great touch at the basket. I don't see it as an negative at all and that just makes him more versatile as a player. But I don't expect him to be some onball scorer since that'll never be his B&B but it'll be in his bag as he continues to develop it.

I didnt say it was a negstive. In fact I’ve long contended Murphy and his skill set is arguably the most important to the team given the high usage, ball dominance of Ingram Zion and CJ
The fact remains he and Ingram aren’t really interchangeable skill set wise. I’m indifferent to Ingram, his fragility isn’t ideal, but the slander has become funny

Even when you make a post to arguably defend Ingram you can’t avoid saying BS things like “ball hog”. How many ball hogs lead their teams in assists??
