For me it's about the lack of creativity and quality of entertainment and the overall artform. Movie makers are just piggybacking on old successes delivering a disappointing product that could never possibly live up to the original thing they are ripping off. Come up with something new. It's the same shite in music.

It is the problem with AAA properties in most avenues.

You have to have something with wide appeal in order to have a chance at a return but enough to offset all the costs.

This is a problem to a degree in games too… AAA properties are churned out to be monetized in a corporate dictated way and, if the game fails, it was OBVIOUSLY the studio / property / something else and not the dictates from the studio ruining what made the property appealing to begin with.

FFS, look at almost any property EA has touched which isn’t Madden or soccer.

New IPs are constantly releasing. You're just paying more attention to the established ones.

WTF does this mean? Films are meant for entertainment. No one is forced to watch them.

Meaning, it's not necessary to create a prequel to IP when a sequel already exists. Why take the risk with a whole-cloth prequel when you can make a faithful adaptation to an already existing sequel property?

If you mean Great Glass Elevator, Dahl wrote that as a “frick you” to Hollywood for how they did the 70s version by making it unadaptable.

Just saw the movie, it was terrific. Had some nods to the original movie, and although having a diverse cast, it worked. Not woke at all- this is the type of movie Disney should be putting out.
