Aggies, what are you hearing?

Fisch is a name that leaked out lately ... I watch AZ, and would be ecstatic with that hire. I think we will take a shot at some big names first after this weekend.

Traylor is probably out, because he tried a little too hard to influence the process. I agree with that list, with Fisch being the most likely. AZ is completely broke.

I dont think Elko is a real possibility.

He just signed an extension through 2029 with Duke. Even though he isnt making top flight money, I dont see aggie paying his buyout. Expectations at duke are lower and he's got a good team. His only tie to the aggies is being their DC for 3 years.

Nobody's hearing anything from the A&M side. Bjork, Justin Moore, and RC Slocum are the search committee, and they aren't talking. So, pretty much anything you do hear is coming from the other end, like the stuff about Traylor interviewing (clearly planted by his agent).

I see where Elko is supposedly telling his people he's staying at Duke, and Smith is leaving OSU for Michigan State, so the target is getting a little bit narrower. I assume we have probably told a candidate or two that they are out of the running, but I don't know that we have selected a finalist.

Part of the hold up is timing; you aren't going to get a coach who has a team in the playoff to leave, and we can't wait around until January, so the calendar may end up playing a big role in the decision. Bjork has said he wants to have someone in place by December 4, so anyone who is in the playoff is out. I don't like that conceptually, but, practically, I don't know how you avoid it.
