Serious question: Why do we give a frick about California in that context?

Because these laws force the manufacturers to change their production to meet them.

Serious question; Do you have to think to breathe?

Go further then. You're trying to say nothing in the other 49 can be sold unless it complies to Cali law. You're going with that.

Breathe... and answer.

Or not.

The cali law (unless it’s changed recently) is a toothless feel good measure for cali to sniff its own farts without actually doing anything.

It’s just a law to make a law. The current law itself doesn’t ban anything. It just directs state agencies to make rules that would prevent sale of ICE vehicles. I’ll bet a year’s salary that the deadline to create and implement these currently nonexistent rules will get pushed back many times for many years at a time.

It’s the perfect red meat “law”. Libs cream themselves about how progressive their state is while conservatives across the country melt to tears about. All while it doesn’t actually do anything itself

One point, California was 40% of all EV sales.

Yep. My cousin bought a tesla and is driving in for Thanksgiving from Arizona. He is having to stop 16 times and each time it takes 7 hours to charge. He might be late for Thanksgiving.

Well, you’re a liar.

No, I'm not.

However, manufacturers do not want to make special vehicles for various states. And some other states have taken to following CA's lead on these "green" laws. VA was following this same path and a few others as well iirc.

And if those CA laws were to ban all gas powered cars that would also eliminate hybrids. Which would be a huge blow to the foreign manufacturers as CA is their strongest market. They would be forced to either abandon it or rush some EVs into production to retain their sales in those states mandating them.

Think a bit before hitting send.

Impressive.

What really stuck out to me though was how badly those charging stations are fricking people. Apparently the customer volume isn't there yet, but that markup compared to charging at home is insane.

Absolutely. I hope it gets better with the Tesla chargers opening up to everyone. I'm no EV fanboy, I don't have one but i think in a multi car family they can have their place. I also want the choice to continue to buy EV or ICE or Hybrid or hydrogen or whatever.

Every single sentence you typed ending with a period is conjecture. A wild guess... or you could pwn me.

All you have to do is: link current CA law proposals re: eliminating gasoline and when. Link manufacturer responses to those laws as they're no way new, as you state none 'would want to make special vehicles'. Name the other states mandating the same Cali laws re: their proposed hybrid/ICE resolutions. ANY US state or law "banning" gasoline use in automobiles. A link supporting California is the strongest foreign car market vs the cumulative of the remaining 49 others.

Think a bit before hitting send.

This is what’s good about a market economy. It keeps stupid bullshite in check because the dollar is what matters at the end of the day.

What’s bad is the more the loons take over govt, they will blame capitalism for the lack of “progress” and usher in true communism by nationalizing major industries.

I believe in recycling. I drive a 73 Mustang that I just restored/did a restomod. New AC, LED lights inside and out, new engine, new clutch and Bluetooth. Screw EVs.

Mercedes has built a shockingly large battery plant just down the road from its OG Alabama Assembly plant. Hope it works out.

Not to worry. For every 1 EV they sell, they sell 20 F150s at 15-20k a pop, profit wise. There's a seemingly endless supply of fricking stupid baws.

Ford Motor Co. confirmed Friday that it sought and won permission from the U.S. Department of Energy to defer debt payments owed for a 2009 government loan.
The action is viewed as "worrisome" to an expert who closely follows bankruptcy trends.
Regulatory documents filed by Ford showed the company owes payments of $591 million in 2020, $591 million in 2021 and $289 million in 2022.

Interesting. I see a lot of Hispanics driving them. The couple that I see often are in pretty good shape.
