Let's take a look at the defenses played by each player. (Only FBS teams)
Rank of Scoring Defense and Passing Defense

Nix-

Texas Tech- 52,68
Hawaii- 112,35
Colorado- 125,128
Stanford- 126,129
Washington- 47,117
Wash St- 91,101
Utah- 28,63
Cal- 122,125
USC- 121,113
Arizona St- 96,93

Daniels-

FSU- 12,15
Miss St- 82,48
Arkansas- 65,42
Ole Miss- 47,58
Missouri- 45,79
Auburn- 38,26
Army- 42,20
Alabama- 14,23
Florida- 85,85
Ga State- 106,127

Is there really a legitimate discussion on who is better?

***We could throw in rushing yards but it is kinda unfair to mention that Daniels has more yards rushing than Oregon's leading rusher at this point in the season.

Might I suggest using the straight line ( | ) and additional spacing between your rankings.

Very hard to read.

Also yes, Jayden has played a much tougher schedule.

Good stuff. First time I’ve seen that. Need to get that out to the masses.

What exactly is the argument for Nix?

He's a good QB in a shitty, now defunct conference.

He has less passing yards than JD5,
FAAAAAAAR less rushing yards
Plays worse defenses,

I mean is there any metric where he is better than Daniels?

Sad part is that Ga State has a better defense than Colorado, Stanford, Cal and USC

Daniels is more impressive, no question. Add his running threat and the voting should be over

Averages out like this for whatever that is worth:

Nix:
92 / 97.2
Throw out the best and worst:
95.75 / 101

Daniels:
53.6 / 53.2
Throw out the best and worst:
52.25 / 47.63

Nix is having a good year, but I think the hype is there because it's on the west coast and the writers out there want the conference to be relevant.

The thread that was on here where a west coast writer said JD would be holding a clipboard on their teams shows how hard they are pushing this narrative.

When Texas tech is the second best D you’ve faced you play some weak D’s.

And people wonder why Nix left the SEC for that terrible conference.

Daniels has played 1 defense that is worse than 85th in pass defense while Nix has played 7 of them. When people say Daniels "stat padded" vs G St (which he threw 30 passes, Nix threw 29 passes vs Arizona St), that's why people in the know call Oregon out for padding stats vs high school teams all year.

They are going to get a rude awakening in the playoffs if they make it.
