BK learning a hard lesson in the SEC

In all of Kelly’s past stops,Cinn to GV, he was able to get away with having some medicore position coaches and/or coordinators at times in his past stops
Kids going to ND, weren’t concerned about position coaches, they were committing to the school and the program and NFL develop was a bonus
But in the SEC and when dealing with 5-star, top ranked talent these kids care about who will be coaching them.
They want someone who has scalps on the wall to say and have developed and recruited pros that have impact in the league. I think this is evident with our secondary and Dline recruiting rn
BK has to make changes this offseason and I trust he will, past actions lends credence to this. I don’t necessarily blame him bc it’s worked in the past but he must rectify it or it’ll be his downfall

I’m not sure I agree with this
ND isn’t some sunbelt school

If I said not elite position coaches would that be better.
The Elijah Robinson, Jim Knowles and Joe Sloan matter when recruiting elite talent

Who at ND was developing them if not position coaches?

Not even close to the issue

No. I understood what you meant. ND has not relaxed their admissions criteria like all the other schools for their athletic department. Therefore, those going there are going for the school, not because any particular assistant coach is there or they have aspirations for the NFL they desire to maximize.
When Charlie Weiss obtained the commitment from the youngest Clausen brother, he put an assistant coach outside his house throughout the open contact period. Finally the Dad answers the door one day and tells him, tell Coach Weiss to put this much effort into finding good OLinemen. Why? Because of what I said above.

You honestly think elite players go play at Notre Dame with no expectation of going on to the NFL?
You guys act like Notre Dame is like Harvard or some other Ivy League school that’s terrible at football. It’s delusional.

BK has won at a high level everywhere he has been. His first 2 years at ND were mediocre and then he was in the title game In year 3. He knows what he is doing and I think he will adjust just fine to the SEC. Hell he won the west in year 1 with an offense held together with duct tape.

If you are talking about scalps on the wall, you can make an argument we are QBU now with JD.
