We do. 4 games the first weekend (Fri-Mon), then 4 more the second weekend (Thu-Sun). Then 4 games in a row in Houston.

Hurd
Holman
Ack

Not too confident on my Ack as a Sunday starter prediction, but I think Jay gives him a chance there to start the season. Could also see them giving Coleman a shot there as well.

We have so many talented arms its hard to project who will be the 3 starters outside of Hurd.

Friday - Hurd
Saturday - Holeman
Sunday - Jump/Loer

I would not be shocked if one of the Freshman takeover the Sunday spot. I'm really hoping the staff can live up to the hype and keep the depth that it looks like we have.

Fri Jump
Sat Hurd (would not be shocked if Jay uses Hurd to close a game on Fri night if it comes to that)
Sun Holman

He will likely continue to piece together midweek starts depending on what happens on the weekends. You don't need a 4/5 until tournament time. Ack and Johnson would be decent options for 4/5 at that point.

Bullpen options
Herring
Loer
Guidry
Coleman
Little
Moffett
Woods
Ulloa
Primeaux
Anderson
Bucknam

Brown seems to be focusing more on OF right now, so not sure how much mound time he will see

Hurd
Holman

Some combo of Jump/Herring/Ack in the remaining spots.

Loer will likely be a key bullpen arm but how they use him probably TBD. Beyond that, who ever performs in February/March?

This is where I casually mention Sam freaking Dutton has a 1.98 ERA through 13 2/3 IP this fall...Has given up 16 hits but with 20 K and only 3 earned runs which is absolutely shocking. He always has kept his free passes low (4 BB this fall) and he clearly is still living on the edge here filling up the strike zone a little too much (16 hits in 3 2/3 IP) but this line shocked me the most this fall so far.

Previous it was Little having an insane run this fall but he got destroyed last weekend. Still has 20 K in 15 IP with 10 H allowed (5 H in a 2inning appearance last weekend where he gave up 4 of his 6 total ER).

Surprised Primeaux didnt pitch this weekend, was he hurt? He's been a good run himself.

We have so many options for starters it's ridiculous...and thats without Coleman, Noot and Shores even available.

We play a butt ton of games in a short period pretty early on. We'll probably see 6-7 different guys get starts as Jay lays it out for the start of conference.

Saw an interview where Loer said he was going to have the chance to start. Johnson also has a track record at least at LSU of putting people into the weekend starting roles the first few weekends before shaking up the weekend rotation.

Would not shock me to see him give Jump or Loer the first crack with their experience and then adjust his rotation after the first few weekends to see how the staff is best suited.

Also wouldn't be shocked if he didn't start and we just used him in a end of game/shut down role.

My prediction come SEC play is:

Friday - Hurd
Saturday - Jump
Sunday - Holman

In 6 innings this fall Jump has given up only 1 hit and has 10K/1BB. Pretty crazy for coming off injury and not throwing at all in 1.5 seasons. Not sure if they will start the season with him in the weekend rotation or not because of ramping him up slowly. That's why my prediction is by SEC play. Maybe Ack gets the nod on the weekend at the beginning of the season.

I think midweeks will definitely be used with the Johnny wholestaff aproach so you can have all the bullets ready for the weekend. Maybe early in the season you tinker with stretching guys out because of the schedule, but by SEC play we should start to see how the pitchers will be used week in and week out. Plenty options fellas. Come a long way from having Hilliard as the Friday starter and scrambling for pitching.

I actually think it will be the opposite. I don't think Jay wants to keep going to the portal for experienced starting pitching. I think we use the midweeks to get some of this year's freshmen some genuine starting experience, even if it's just 5 starts for each of them.

I feel that way early in the season. Once we get to SEC play, if he feels like multiple "starter" type guys can be valuable on the weekends he will have them ready and available instead of throwing them 5 or so in the midweek.

Thinking someone like Cam. Why throw him 5 in the midweek to have him getting ready for a future starting role when you can have him on the weekends throwing valuable innings.

Also thinking about his weekend approach. With the amount of guys we have that can go multiple innings, many guys may not get innings on the weekend where you have to use the midweeks to get multiple guys live innings out of necessity.

Jay said before that that’s by design. Gives them a chance to get a taste of what post season play will be like before the stakes really get raised.

Thought it was really interesting and just goes to show that I wouldn’t have thought of half the things that the really good coaches know.

Yeah, I could see some piggy backing developing. Two guys going 4 innings on a Sunday instead of trying to get one guy through 6. Things like that. Still teaches guys to go more than once through the order, and the other things you need to figure out as a starter.

I was thinking Hurd, Jump, Holman because of R/L/R but maybe they go Hurd, Holman, Jump and they can do the type of thing you are saying with Jump to get him going slowly. Maybe Jump to a RHP like Little or Dutton on a Sunday if they can handle that.

Is Chase Shores going to pitch this year? He was looking good before the injury.
