Kinda pisses me off how hard it is to become a pilot these days.
These men learned it in a few months but college wants to drag it out over 4 years.
I mean sure, that’s one of many reasons why I think trade schools are (understandably) becoming more popular. But the training for WW2 was rushed because it had to be and it led to more than 13,000 aviator deaths due to training accidents over the course of the war. That's a staggering number.

The B-17 is my favorite aircraft ever made. I can’t wait for this.

Trailer feels too polished compared to BoB.

Looks good but I agree. Almost too polished. Pacific and BoB have a timeless feel to them that I don’t think can be replicated.
Also, fricking Austin Butler clearly hasn’t lost that Elvis voice. Holy shite it was distracting

This an interesting take on BoB and Pacific. Makes me wonder what a black and white version of these two would look like. I assume it would have the feel of one of the old News Reel films.

I am pumped for this. It isn't fair to judge this against BoB since BoB was a singular story. I have faith that Hanks would not put something out for it so stink.

Probably why they raised the price ~43% recently.

It’s like every time he speaks it’s something poetic

I was wondering if they were going to include a plot line of shot down airmen that will have to try and get back to England through occupied Europe. Based on some hand to hand fighting scenes in there it looks like it does
My dad's aunt married a guy who was shot down over Europe. The Red Cross would collect the names of prisoners and Walter Winchell would announce them on his weekly radio show. That's how they learned he was captured and not dead.

My dad's uncle was shot down and captured by Vichy French troops. Being a Coonass, he spoke French, and they passed him off as one of their own, and got him back to the Allies.

Anyone know how the episodes will release? Will all episodes be available Jan 26 or will it be a weekly release type schedule?

The first episode should premiere tonight at 8 CST. Apple, like Amazon release content the night before.

My buddy's son is at the Airforce Academy and they saw a prescreening of the first episode. He said it was incredible. I have high hopes.

It is.
From 1940 through 1945, according to statistics gathered by Anthony J. Mireles, the U.S. Army Air Corps/Air Force suffered 6,351 fatal accidents, with more than 13,600 fatalities and the loss of more than 7,000 aircraft. Most of the fatal accidents (2,101) occurred in primary, basic, and advanced trainers, while 2,796 aviators died in the 490 fatal B-24 accidents, followed by 1,757 who died in 284 B-17 crashes.
Of the fighter plane accidents, 455 pilots died in 404 crashes involving P-47 Thunderbolts, while 369 and 337 lost their lives in P-39 and P-38 accidents, respectively.

That would make for an interesting movie.
