Trump has released his campaign pledges. Are these feasible? Too extreme? Pandering?

Check today’s WSJ for the article.

1. Federal Workers. Fire thousands of federal employees he deems are “the deep state” and move several agencies out of Washington.

2. Agencies. Assert independent control over the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission.

3. Spending. Revive the so-called impoundment power, which presidents have asserted to refuse to spend money appropriated by Congress.

4. Citizenship. Issue an EO ending constitutional right to birthright citizenship.

5. Law Enforcement. Defund the FBI and DOJ

6. Immigration. Carry out the “largest deportation operation” in US history and send thousands of US troops to the Texas/Mexico border.

7. Drugs. Order the Navy to enforce a full embargo to prevent fentanyl and other drugs from entering the country.

8. Trade. Impose a 10% tariff on nearly all imported goods.

9. China. Impose restrictions on Chinese ownership of infrastructure in the US.

10. Housing. Build new housing cities on federal land.

11. Homelessness. Relocate thousands of homeless to newly-created tent cities.

What are your thoughts? I can see several of these being deemed unlawful or at least tied up in the courts for years.

So executive orders can overrule constitutional provisions now? Good to know,

He might do most of 6 and 8. The rest, people will be disappointed.

Sounds like nothing would get done, like his first term. Maybe a few more judges will die.

Sounds like an internet caricature rather than a real campaign.

Most will fall victim to Lawfare. Trump part 2 would get nothing done due to Lawfare.

The left doesn’t want him to have any thing meaningful that would give him a remotely positive legacy as President.

WTF are housing cities?

Modern reservations for the poor?

I guess we drop off food for them and pay for their cable too?

If a candidate is not talking about healthcare, it's a mistake. That is a looming crisis.

I don't trust his resolve with regard to the border.

The issue with federal employees and agencies is going to become a constitutional crisis. Good. We need it.

The federal judiciary is also a problem and it's going to become a constitutional crisis as well.

Globalists - major issue.

Lots of stuff there. I don't trust Trump to implement any of it.

Housing on federal land - nope. Horrible idea.

ETA - moving homeless to tent cities. Absolutely stupid. Where? How do they get food? Why bail out these cities and states and their bad policies?

So we wanna create a bunch of Gaza’s here in the US? Where no one wants to go?

I truly dont know what the answer is for the homelessness… but this doesnt sound like its it.

Guess he had to come up with something since announcing he was joking about building the wall.

Like Russia and China have done with massive crumbling communist housing? That’ll be nice.

Trump released this?
Do you have a link?

Because it appears your OP is a characterization by Restuccia and Bravin rather than a campaign plan by Trump.

10: why? There is plenty of land without using federal.
11: kicking the can down the road

This is why I cannot quit him.

To answer your legal question- these are all within his authority as President. They all fall within his enforcement powers.

The only thing I think he would be legally prohibited from doing is retroactively ending birthright citizenship. But going forward- he can.

Congress needs to end it permanently. These are great stopgaps.

You would think that after four years in the White House Trump would know what powers the president has. He’s not a dictator.

Stuff like this is concerning.
