Let’s give them free healthcare, free tuition, free housing, free phones, free internet, free food.

Why do people need to work?

You develop a society that is unsustainable.

quote:

Imagine ten people stranded on an Brian S. Wesbury – Chief Economist Robert Stein, CFA – Dep. Chief Economist Strider Elass – Senior Economist Andrew Opdyke, CFA – Senior Economist Bryce Gill – Economist Nate Gerze – Economic Analyst island, living at subsistence, each person using a spear or even her hands to catch two fish each per day, barely surviving. Then two of them decide to risk it all and build a boat. They go out one day and bring home twenty fish. Hallelujah! Enough to feed everyone. With this bounty, the others use their talents to find easier ways to get their two fish. Some of them climb the trees, bring down coconuts, and trade for fish. Others build fires to cook the fish just right. Others build better huts. And so on and so forth. In other words, the innovation of making that boat and net didn’t just help those original two; it helped everyone. Life is better. But one of those islanders isn’t happy. He watches all that trading and realizes that the two owners of the boat and net who took the big risk are better off than the rest. It wasn’t like it was before, where all everyone had was two fish per day, barely eking out survival, but at least they were equal. The unhappy islander – let’s call him Sernie Banders – comes up with a plan to bring “equity” to the island. He gets them to impose an 80% tax on the “rich” boat/netmakers! That way when the boaters bring in their haul of twenty fish, the rest of them get their “fair share” of sixteen (two fish per person, eight other people), with no extra work. Common sense tells us what happens next. The inventors have little incentive to maintain or repair the boat or fix the net. Why waste your time or take a risk when the rest of the islanders are just going to seize the extra value you’ve created? In the end, the islanders are eventually back where they started. Or maybe worse, because they forgot how to fish. The US isn't at 80%, yet. But Federal, State and Local spending are already roughly 42% of GDP. If we don’t get spending under control, tax rates will eventually go much higher. Bigger government means less innovation, less investment in and maintenance of capital, and less economic growth.

I love me some abortion, legalized prostitution and drug use, and gay marriage, to name a few. Since I don’t believe in grooming children, Democrats today consider me a MAGA extremist.

Abortions for non viable fetuses and genetic abnormalities. I honestly think medical treatments and procedures should be regulated by the medical community.

Restricting amounts that corporations and special interest groups can contribute to campaigns. The Citizens United ruling was supported by most Republicans and opposed by most Democrats.

B.S. I believe they should increase the death penalty for some lesser offenses and put in an express lane so my tax dollars arent wasted keeping this scum up.

Is the worst idea in the history of this nation.

The government already wants to use "public health" to control every aspect of your life. If you just sign it away with M4A, it's over - you will never have autonomy ever again.

Confounds me how anyone thinks this is not just an acceptable proposition but a good idea.

Your health is too important to allow the government to be in control of it.

There is nothing that comes from the Democratic Party that is good for this nation. Not a single thing.

Also to the people just walking across the border.

So you can’t have any dem policy because of other dem policy.

Although with the way we are creating jobs in this country we prob need UBI. But I’m only down if everyone gets it. Even Elon.

Dems don't actually believe this. They've been cheerleading decades-long prison sentences for J6 defendants for what amounts to a criminal trespass charge.

This is so so dumb on taxes.

What you are looking for is to abolish income tax.

If your wealth is in stocks and your assets. You have no income to be taxed.

And pretending that all these rich folk pay no taxes isn’t true.

quote:

The results are stark. According to Forbes, those 25 people saw their worth rise a collective $401 billion from 2014 to 2018. They paid a total of $13.6 billion in federal income taxes in those five years, the IRS data shows. That’s a staggering sum, but it amounts to a true tax rate of only 3.4%.

From this same period Buffet had a reported $125m in income and paid $23.7m in taxes. But his overall wealth growth was $24.3b.
