What are people eating?

Interesting discussions lately with people in different food (meat) processing. Everyone is struggling across the board in all sectors
Our domestic catfish sales are down. While processing so far is equal to last year, freezer inventories are almost full and processing will have to slow in 4th quarter. I figured imported farm raised fish and seafood imports would be up, taking up the slack. Research shows that’s not the case. Farm raised Fish imports are about half what they were last year.
Chicken producers are struggling really bad apparently. As are beef. Cold storage is slam packed full all across the nation and imports are slow due to lack of freezer space. We all know the shrimpers are struggling in Louisiana
So if domestic and import sales are all down then wtf are people eating for protein?
And grocery prices should be tanking with the level of inventory out there. None of this makes any damn sense but you’re about to see a ton of producers, processors, farmers go under in 2024 if it doesn’t get better.
Are that many people going to a vegetarian diet and can’t afford meat? Or is this a case of inventory was flooded after supply chain issues were corrected and back orders filled and it just has to work through the system eventually by dropping prices to increase demand?
Either way, dark days ahead for us meat producers out there. I’m afraid this is all part of the WEF plan to get us to eating bugs

I'd say people are consuming less meat across the board and probably consuming cheaper staples (pasta, rice, etc.).
I know we used to grill steaks, chicken, and sausage every week but that has changed to every 2-3 weeks or so.
FFS my wife bought a 5 pack of NY strip yesterday from Costco and it was $66.

Friday's used to be steak night, not anymore.
Fresh fish out of the Gulf, red beans are still affordable along with rice.

Friend,
We tried a vegan diet, which had been quite difficult, and I have strayed. Last week I went to The Corral of Gold and had nine sirloin steaks and two chicken breasts. The chocolate fountain is a thing of the past, replaced with the superior ICEE machine. I ordered a water, emptied it in the bathroom, and drank blueberry ICEEs during my meal. And the mashed potatoes were incredible! Did you know The Corral peels over one million pounds of potatoes every week for their mashed potatoes? I try to arrive around 3:50, when the lunch price of $10.99 is still offered. I eat a plate of fried chicken, and by the time I am finished, they are serving sirloins.
Yours,

LOL.
1. Humans don't need anywhere near the amount of protein that the meat & dairy industry have propagandized that we do.
2. There is protein in almost everything you eat (that is real food). There is more protein in a pound of broccoli than there is a pound of steak (although a pound of broccoli is a LOT of broccoli).
The idea that protein only exists in meat & dairy is another propaganda piece.

Right now?
I busted into the Halloween candy.
Sour Patch Kids, to be specific.

A combination of prices and people realizing they need far less meat than told to us before. Lots of people trying to slim down as well.

This is purely anecdotal but after hitting a few craft breweries the past two weekends I would say a lot of Americans are drinking their meals.

As for me I bought a bigger deep freezer ( makes for 2 freezer/ refrigerator versions & 2 high capacity freezer versions) and stocked up heavily during Covid when prices of meat plummeted. In some cases I was able to get at 75% off. Vacuum sealed everything and dated. Eat meat knowing I have tenderloin on my plate at 3-5 per 12-16oz.

The wife (nopics) tried to buy a 3lb pack of ground beef (not chuck, just beef) last week. It was $22. At WalMart.
She put it back so I'm eating turkey chili (which is actually pretty tasty).
Where's the brunt of cost increase coming from? Are producers having to charge more because feed costs have increased? Is it gasoline prices for transportation? Processing?

High food prices of a year or two ago did what high food prices always do---the prices created more production than the demand could absorb.

Yep. A measured policy designed to kill off the population. A move based on profoundly disordered Climate Change absurdity. You cringe? Remember you're dealing with people who kill babies. Many of those babies killed while dangling from the birth canal.
Evil people this bunch.

I have plenty of beef that a local slaughterhouse kills and packages for me.
Trade a steer for freezers full of beef.
