If #2 plays like that, the defenses can hang it up.

You can try to bracket one guy. You can maybe try to bracket two guys. No way you take out all three.

If you tried you would absolute have to abandon the box and concede the run game. Not to mention that we have an excellent possession TE and multiple RBs that can catch out of the back field.

Oh and the most dangerous running QB in the country …

Give JD5 props for continuing to go to Lacy after the early drops.
Last year, JD5 would have quit looking his way after the drops.
Props to Lacy for turning it around, too.

And if John Emery gets it going too, then REALLY look out.

I’ve been down in Lacy due to drops. To the point where I didn’t want to see him on the field again

But if he can consistently catch tue ball he’s the best WR3 in the country

I still don't trust him but was happy to see him have a good game. Hopefully, that's a confidence builder and what he needed to get rid of the drops. The thing is that even if he hauls in a pass he doesn't catch it cleanly so it creates opportunities for DB's to knock it out when the coverage is tight.

If he doesn’t drop 3 passes per game. He dropped a big 3rd down for a conversion, but JD5 went back to him. He’s a receiver. There’s no reason he’s consistently dropping passes like this, other than he takes his eye off the ball, which is flat out dumb to do over and over. If he keeps his head in the game and decides to quit letting the team down, he can be an important part of the offense until Hilton comes back. There’s a reason #2 was benched.

With three WRThat you have to cover;
With a killer running qb that can pass;
With running backs that can catch, block and run;
With a TE that’s capable to block or catch;
Aaaand even having two TE that can do the same thing;

You can pick their poison. Hard to scheme against the weapons.

I think about Brandon Lafell and the drops that he had for what seemed like an entire half a season or more. Doucet and Byrd were the alpha WRs at the time and Lafell was trying to make his name as WR3 but kept having awful drops, some even bouncing right off his hands and into the defender's for a pick.

He eventually got it together and once he grew out of his case of the dropsies became a very productive receiver for us as his career went on. Caught a TD over Malcolm Jenkins in the title game by the end of 07 IIRC. I'd love to see Lacy have a similar career progression. Maybe this past game can be a launching point after rebounding from that drop.

It was good to see him rebound after the drop. I was happy to see him have that game after struggling. If he locks in, offense becomes unbeatable. This offense really is something special and we shouldn’t compare it to 2019. Enjoy this group and year

That's why I am still so pissed off that we lost to Ole Miss. Our offense is unstoppable and we literally needed our defense to just come up with 1 more stop at any point throughout the game and apparently that was just too much to ask. Absolutely ridiculous.

It must be the weather when the Rant is giving props to Lacey.
