Although she may make a pretty substantial socio-political turn at some point, it doesn't sound like you'd be okay with a pro-choice and/or socialist wife. Therefore DO NOT get engaged now. At 27 you have time if you want to wait and see for a bit. Maybe she comes back to Florida and steadily and for good reasons comes around to worldview compatible with yours. Just don't bet on it, and don't get engaged unless and until it happens and she stabilizes into someone long-term compatible with you, someone you'd trust long-term as the mother of your kids.

I had a fling with a woman years ago, she was leftist. She could have been wife #2, if she weren't in love with whacked out politics.
