Started brewing beer in my early 30's

I did the same, but that was many years ago. I still brew and now that the weather is cooling off I'm ready to brew another batch of something.

I also started building furniture for my house and just finished some oak kitchen cabinets and the doors and windows for an attic expansion. I had 6 years of wood shop in Jr high and high school but didn't use those skills much until about 10-12 years ago.

For me too. It was the dark ages of brewing back then. You had plenty of yeast as long as you liked Red Star, you could get maybe 3 types of hops and if 6-row barley was your thing, you were golden. It's a different world now.
