French & Indian Wars)

Very interesting period, it’s fascinating that the native Americans were double timing the British and French , the same way they were trying to get over on the Indians, signing conflicting treaties with each world power. The native Americans were not dumb, and it’s a shame they didn’t have a fair chance for a fight bc of diseases.

Thanks for all the responses guys and gals. Look forward to discussing further on the future History board.

Age of Jackson.
1815-1845.
The epitome of badass, no apologies, American sumbitches. Forging and taming a nation that was won by the previous generation.

To start, the age age of sail. It's supremely intriguing, whether it is a Navy, a privateer, or other. The Greeks and Triremes, the early US Navy with six frigates, it's all fascinating.

The colonial periods of the European nations are also an interesting study. Why did the colonies of certain countries completely fall apart after independence, while others didn't?

Others have talked about pre WWI, but a single Barbara Tuchman book can explain it (The Proud Tower, a portrait of the world before the war, 1890-1914.)

Westward expansion but more specifically, the gold rush era. I've been fascinated by mining for over 30 years but the Rush itself was some craziness. Everything about it, from the trek west and surviving it to the toil, hard work, debauchery and lawlessness. If the OT existed then, we would have all exclaimed Clown World and 'we're doomed' watching it all play out. At the same time, we'd be starved for stories of violence and pics of saloon whores. Fascinating times.

Most interesting - WWI and how WWII was just a continuation. And how the present world is still connected to that era.
