Just watched Sinister

Started rewatch of the Day of the Dead. What a weird movie.
Opening scene going into the middle of a zombie filled city to scream if there are any survivors?
That lady definitely could do better than her romantic partner. Dude is a fricking waste.
So many absolutely sleazy performances

I may get into a zombie kick soon. May try to watch Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead, and Day of the Dead and their respective remakes (of which I believe I've seen all three).
Or should I just skip the originals?
ETA: Or I guess Land (2005) isn't a remake, but just another zombie movie from Romero.

Skip the originals? Hell no. They’re all better than their remakes and the day of the dead remake is notoriously awful. Dawn of the dead remake is at least quality remake

The ending of Sleepaway camp was something else. I went in completely blind.
Just watched this last night for the first time. I was NOT prepared for that.
Some others I've watched this week:
As Above, So Below - Not a huge found-footage fan, but I checked it out due to the recs here, and I thought it was really good. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews from critics because I'd think anyone with working knowledge of famous Italian literature would appreciate it.
Haunt - I didn't find it that scary, but I liked the vibe. Had some disturbing visuals, a couple of unexpected surprises, and it kept me guessing. Would recommend.
Chopping Mall - Meh. There was one cool death and a couple nice sets of boobs.

13 Ghosts is basically the horror version of The Patriot for me. If I see it on AMC (TNT/TBS for The Patriot), I’m throwing it on I always wanted a spin off movie on the Jackal.

Watched two tonight.
Significant Other. I liked this one, but once you find out what is going on it gets a little silly/campy. But I still enjoyed it and the little twist was kinda cool. And Plop from The Office plays such a good douche.
Sleepaway Camp. Saw this mentioned several times so I decided to give it a shot. I borderline hated it. It just is flat out not good. I read up about it a bit and see it’s compared to the original Friday the 13th, and that’s laughable to me since that’s actually a pretty great horror movie and this one sucks. The acting was very subpar, even for an 80s campy movie. The twist at the end was unexpected, but I sort of half guessed it about halfway through (not exactly, but I was close). But man just the cheese in this one and the shite acting was difficult to overcome for me. Pretty disappointing. I can see why it became a bit of a cult classic though.

That was a fun horror comedy.
The Wolf of Snow Hollow was a decent one too

-I See You(64/100) I enjoyed the twist that came and it really came out of nowhere. Otherwise, it was a pretty standard thriller, and I like Helen Hunt.
Problem with this movie was Helen Hunt’s god awful plastic surgery.
Her face was so distracting it ruined the film

Killer Book Club (Spanish) - basically a remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer. It was an enjoyable movie, although annoying at times with the classic horror movie actions and tropes. Even more so than expected. The killer is predictable. The twist is alright. None of the characters are likable. They are all douchebags.
6/10 in my opinion.

It is like what are they thinking??? Any movie lacking a protagonist is off my list.

I have seen Wolf of Snow Hollow. I remember having a weird reaction to the movie. Kinda like “hmm, so that happened” to the entire movie

“Anyone with working knowledge of Italian literature”
“Chopping Mall - meh”
I…uhh…think you might be a bit pretentious. Too pretentious to possibly check out and enjoy the classic Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers.
You’ll never guess what it’s about!

Watched Haunt last night. It was okay. Typical “haunted house attraction where real things happen” type of movie. Some of the character choices were overly stupid and I always laugh at these as if anything like this could actually happen (I find horror movies better when they are at least plausible), but it was enjoyable enough to give a watch. I’d give it maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10.
May try The Void next. I can’t remember if I’ve seen that one or not.

I have a tradition where I watch Scream and the first Scary Movie. I know they go off the rails at one point in the series, but the first movie is really great. And it makes it hard to watch Scream without laughing.

This past week I went on a Dario Argento binge and watched Tenebre, Argento's Dracula, and Trauma. They were all interesting in their own way. Dracula was kind of silly in parts but kept me entertained.
I also watched All Hallow's Eve, the precursor to Terrifier. This wasn't good.

The second one is arguably better than the first IMO. That’s one of the hardest-laughed-at movies I’ve ever seen in the theater when it came out. I watched it recently and it feels sort of dated now, but at the time it hit all the right pop culture buttons. And it’s still pretty damn funny in its own right now.
