Cue up that study about replacing the old Future corridor signs, with new ones. Studies until the end of days. Jan Swift and her dead eyes will chair so many committees on these signs.

49 is pretty much butter once you get past Opelousas

Have you ever been on the stretch from Shreveport to Texarkana? OMG the road is so amazing that it doesn’t even seem like you’re in Louisiana anymore

And, isn’t the actual (real not imagined) I-49 roadway that is in Caddo Parish south of I 20 a mess?

The road itself is fine, people drive extremely aggressive in that stretch. The Loop is in terrible shape but it is not part of 49

Best interstate in the country for a couple road beers

I left to go to Dallas one morning around 2 am. Once I got past Lafayette it was the most afraid I have ever been on a road. It was a cold, clear morning. The damn deer were literally standing in the middle of the interstate. We counted at least 200 between Opelousas and Alexandria. I was having to slow down to like 15 mph to drive around them just standing around like they were in a pasture.
