Lombardi has said in the past that Shannahan runs everything in that organization, so that rumor on McAfee is a walking contradiction to other things he literally said. And John lynch said on the Pivot pod that Shannahan literally called him and got him to interview for the GM job in SF

I cant really debate if Shannahan said Lance and Mac Jones were his guys. It's fine, everyone liked Lance. And he made up for it by grabbing a better version of Mac Jones in Brock Purdy

Maybe. I’m sure John Lynch and the ownership give their 2 cents.

Nothing about Lance fits what Shannahan seems to like in his QBs. He’s had the Purdy type going all the way back to his OC days in Houston. The only exception was 2 years with RGIII.

Agree here. Jones probably would have been fine in that system, just like Jimmy G. Purdy is a better QB than both of them though.

He was OC’ing for his dad when and they gave up three 1sts and a 2nd for RG3. He was OC when CLE traded up for Manziel and defended the pick for the longest. Not directly pinning those on him but there are definitely some weird moves he was involved in.

It’s never mentioned that he took Solomon Thomas while Mahomes was still on the board in 2017 either

From day one I thought Purdy showed a Drew Brees approach to the game.
