I wish modern companies would stop trying to kill physical media. Not having a disk drive is so stupid.

There's so many reasons digital only should be panned by everyone. People just turn a blind eye because of "muh convenience."

Not having to produce physical disks makes the games cheaper to produce? This means less Microtransactions and cheaper games right? Nope

Licensing fees for cars, music, etc about to run out? Game is removed from digital storefronts, preventing players from ever purchasing it again. There are also examples of content that people have already purchased being removed from their digital libraries.

The end stage is to treat everything like a service where you have to pay a monthly fee to access content. Disney already does this with the vast majority of their Disney+ shows.

This is why I am getting into older games. I'm a younger guy I grew up with ps3 and played some ps2. So I've been emulating or just getting older games (gamecube, ps2,ps1,ect. like that era) because they do not have to deal with those problems are alot of the games (mainly ps1-ps2) are pretty cheap.

If the full game was on every disc and if every game didnt need a day one patch to function properly I be more apt to continue to collect physical games. Unfortunately that isnt the case and negates some but not all of the preservation argument especially if we are talking long term preservation.
