Even if Howard transferred to ULL (or any FBS school), he would have to sit out a year, like any player transferring for the second time. I really can't see him doing that. His situation at Ole Miss is really no better than it was at LSU.

It will be better QBs in portal with playing experience over those 2 if we need a QB. Howard would have to sit a year even if he came back so just a wasting roster spot.

That is conjecture.
Holstein committed to Alabama because he didn’t want to compete with Howard.
Howard transferred to Ole Miss because he didn’t want to compete with Nussmeier.
Collins signed with LSU knowing that he had to compete against higher ranked Quarterbacks either on the roster or committed.
I’ll take the kid that isn’t afraid to compete.

It is way more likely Dart goes to the draft than doesnt as a 2 year starter, we're 3 games into his second season starting, he will have gobs of tape from 2 years starting by the end of this one. If he leaves, Sanders is a 1 year rental max, that leaves Howard as the clear cut starter there sans any portal takes they do in the offseason. This is why Howard ultimately transferred there as he was probably sold this exact plan.

Bama has Julian Sayin #2 QB in the 2024 class committed and from all Reports Dylan Lonergan looks like he might be playing before the year is out. Holstein isn't going to stick around Bama. He wasn't recruited hard by LSU. Not sure if he told them he wasn't interested or what. He will have some option once the year is up. FL and SC come to mind.

Or maybe Saban doesn't want to roll him out there with a terrible O-line a mudfest. Week 3 people are already throwing in the towel on guys who haven't played a snap and been on campus less than a year.

Well they played against each other last year in High School and Eli looked much better. He has a better arm and probably just as mobile.
