We've just been extremely fortunate, so we take it for granted, but winning an NC is extremely difficult. I think only 13 schools have won NCs since 1998.

Based on the last two coaches to win one at LSU, it seems like Kelly has been a good enough coach to win one as well with LSU's resources, but we'll see.

This team is not going undefeated on this season moving forward. You're pretty ignorant if think that even if they do play up to what we thought their ability to be. Playoffs isn't off the table yet but in reality it really is because it's not very practical with their schedule. That's even if they turn out to be very good. They're going to slip somewhere and likely multiple places.

Considering how sloppy this team is right now where it's clear it's going to take awhile for chemistry to mesh they might lose to Miss State next which would be full meltdown mode. They have a QB who's good enough to stun the defense.

Oh really? Then explain this:

Mississippi State: -9
Arkansas: -13.5
Ole Miss: -4.5, -5
Mizzou: unavailable but should be high
Auburn: -14.5 to -16.5
Army: unavailable
Alabama: +6.5 to +7
Florida: -16 to -16.5
A&M: -9.5 to -10

Yeah, and they were also favored against FSU how did that go?

I'll bet LSU loses to either Miss State or Arkansas. In Arkansas they'll see the best QB currently on paper than anyone else on their schedule outside Travis. And that's if Bama doesn't have a great one which we don't know yet. Anyone who has a QB with a pulse is going to give us fits because our defense is bad and we're not capable of getting into shootouts with JD's ability. He can game manage only.

You're going to find out how bad this defense really is and how bad House's scheme is. Better hope Smith is an unblockable monster disrupting every play.

Being favored by 1.5 on the road essentially. Big difference

It's pretty sick how opposing teams are capable of playing lights out perfect football and making the adjustments in your scenarios but LSU cannot. Also, since when are we putting the Arkansas and Miss State defense on he same level as FSU?

No he didn’t

Win the SEC, and you’re in the playoff. It’s that simple. The West is wide open.

Dude, there's no way he was making only 2.7 mil. That may have been in money paid by the school directly, but I'm sure they had some other ways to pad that and bring it more in line with what other top coaches make.

I was surprised to hear that low too. Just relaying the number i heard from somebody pretty well connected in TAF during the hiring process. Im sure others here have heard through similar sources so might can confirm. ND is on record as not wanting to pay crazy coaches salaries because it goes against their core values, etc.

It makes sense why Woodward honed in on him. and why BK took the job. I know we like to tell ourselves he came here because he had a better chance to win a NC, but the truth is ND has a much easier road to the CFP.

What coach doesn’t want one?

It’s not about want. Every single coach wants one in the SEC besides a Vandy

One of the things that makes Saban a winning coach is he will cut loyalty to win games. Whether that’s a coach on his staff or a QB. BK needs to evaluate the staff at the end of the season and make decisions that are best for the program.

Only Bobby Bowden has won his first natty after the age of 60. And BB almost won several before he did win it.

First you say Les was an above average coach but then you said he was allowed years of mediocrity. Above average coaches don't have years of mediocrity. Make up your mind.

He could have coasted to retirement and moved to the beach to golf. It is worth noting that he was only making 2.7 million at ND and LSU tripled his salary.

No, he was not. He was making 8+ a year by the end of his tenure.
