Daniels is a terrible read option QB. Seems like he makes the wrong decision every time.

Rewatching the game, the o line actually did a great job of providing protection and giving JD a clean pocket As usual JD runs away from protection a lot of the times for whatever reason. He’s slow to recognize who is open and by the time he does the window has closed or it’s not on target. It’s why everything seems so bogged down. Safeties are creeping up because they have zero respect for the deep pass. He threw the ball past 15 yards 4 times on Sunday night and 3 of those passes were offline. That isn’t going to get it done in year 5 of the Jayden Daniels project. He is what he is at this point. I think he’s a good athlete that can use his feet and has a decent arm but I don’t think he processes information quick enough at the 1st and 2nd levels and doesn’t try to push the ball down the field. He loves the check down. He also loves to leave the pocket to run. He had 15 rush attempts leading all of the running backs. When he launched into the pile and got whacked he ran out of a clean pocket deciding to Superman himself into the pile up the middle. No real explanation for that one.

Need a QB that can throw downfield.
_________________________________________________________

We need fans who understand football. This notion of throwing down the field is misguided. Did JD miss on a few deep balls? Yes. Did JD throw the ball down the field? Yes.

Last week, JD was 35th in the nation in yards per attempt, with ~9.4yds. Travis was 16th with 11, Sanders was 18th with ~10.9.

Let it go. We got beat. Stop moving the goal posts. WRs need to do better. OL needs to do better. RBs need to do better. QB needs to do better.

Perkins chasing down Travis would have helped too.

I don’t understand why people think saying this makes them sound like they know what they are talking.

I know, bro. Sometimes it aint like it be but it do for talking.

I can see similarities. Stubborn HC who refuses to change his ways. Our offense looks like a worse version of our offense last year and we returned the entire offensive side of the ball... How do you explain them not even giving JD checks at the line? It's stubborn football and it's a shite product.

No, he is right execution was the issue.

execution

was a huge part of it, but offensive scheme was less creative than it was last year and we were a brand new team last year.

We looked stagnant and bored. Offense looked like a Matt Canada hybrid offense with all the damn motions that didnt do anything.

Red zone offense was pure shite, both in play calling AND execution.

It’s one game against a defense that returned 94 percent of its production from a season ago. Can we wait a few more games before we say it’s definitely going to be worse than last year?

It may be but I don’t think last Sunday should be the ultimate test for that.

He's right in my opinion. There was nothing wrong with the offense's explosiveness. The issue was with short yardage playcalls.

We can wait as long as you'd like. Schematically, it was terrible.

I see the game in two arenas: scheme and execution. Coaches can work their arse off all week and hope execution does well, but that's about all they can do from the execution stand point. Putting Mason Taylor in motion every few plays to run the same little route that my wife can pick up on is a scheme issue. If we cant be dialed in schematically the first game of the season, then it's going to be a long arse season. JD helped cover for Denbrocks ancient scheme last year, but teams now know how to neutralize JD by stacking the box and daring him to throw over the top. If your going to start a QB who hates to throw it, then you have to help with checks at the LOS and different play alignments. Zero creativity.

Are you talking about the shotgun triple option with the rb up the middle/JD keeper around the corner/Taylor sprinting into the flat? That was consistently the most effective play of the night and would be a hell of a lot more effective if the rb option was a threat for even a modest gain rather than getting swarmed behind the line.

BK is very dishonest, totally agree and his comments about beating the heck out of FSU is locker room material and Norvell said so. Then BK lied about saying it. What other BS is he putting out.

Basically all of this. Offense was in sync most of the 1st half between the 20’s. Redzone was a different story. 2nd half it was just completely out of sync. If the receiver was open, the protection was bad. If the protection was good, the throw missed. If the throw was on target, the receiver dropped it. Just couldn’t get in sync in the 2nd half.

Sometimes the other team is just better

Yeah, we were so busy looking at LSU's pickups that we completely overlooked the front seven talent that Fl St gained in the portal.

Still a man hears what he wants to hear and he disregards the rest

BK sees what we see. He chooses his words carefully and indicates we are not running the plays as they should be. Period...

The JD defenders will be on this to say "400 yds offense!" but in the end BK will not change anything this week. Dont know what it will take to drive change with him.

Let's hope BK/Denbrock doesn't turn out to be Miles/Cameron. In other words, old stubborn crotchety pals who refuse to innovate.
