1. Interior D-Line

2. OLB Bradyn Swinson

3. Tre Bradford

quote:

Perhaps the biggest surprise was the usage of Tre Bradford from the opening snap when he took a pass 55 yards. With Logan Diggs and John Emery sidelined, it was Bradford, Josh Williams, and Noah Cain who got the carries on Sunday night and Bradford ended the game with a huge play and a touchdown in his return to LSU.

Moving forward, we’ll see how much Bradford is used as Emery and Diggs return to the lineup, but at least the Tigers have shown trust in him to start the season.

4. Greg Brooks

quote:

There weren’t many bright spots outside of the defensive front for LSU, but I thought Brooks was still as active as he usually is with a few PBUs and quality coverage in different spots. He’s going to make more big plays throughout the year and help this defense get back on track.

5. Kicking game

quote:

Nathan Dibert was efficient on kickoffs, Damian Ramos made his field goal attempt and all extra points, and Jay Bramblett had a few really good punts, including one that rolled down to the one-yard line.

We can talk about the return game at length, but the Tigers are in a good position at the kicking spot, which sets them up to convert when in scoring range and continue to win the field position battle.

Agree with all except Tre. He was good on the leak passes which were wide open but he missed the run seems and bounce out opportunities on almost all his runs.

Hate to be that guy, but he got through there because the line pulled. But yes, the interior d line was one of the few bright spots.

Funny how we can see things different. I disagree with The Captain about interior Oline, but think Tre looked good.

We will be all right as a team. I never thought we were natty level this year, but think 10 wins is still a real possibility. I wish all the knuckleheads would calm down and let the games play out.

I hope they learn pass protection, if that’s the issue as to why they are sitting. We don’t have RB speed. Guys are serviceable but not game changers. We need one, if not both, of the freshmen to step up.

2 questions:

Why were Perkins and Brooks standing in the same spot on that near safety/interception? If Brooks isn't there Perkins picks that off.

Where is Diggs? Kelly didn't mention him being out and no one asked about him in yesterday's presser. Diggs, Goodwin, and Emery are probably our 3 best RBs and none of them played

I'm pretty sure he mentioned it post-game as a 'Coach's decision'.

THIS. He never mentioned any sort of injury to Diggs all offseason. Then on gameday, he's a coaches scratch? what's the point of injury updates?

Nah he absolutely mentioned Diggs being injured during the preseason. Wasn't playing at scrimmages and such

Wingo was a wrecking ball. They elected to double him for good reason in the second half. With Smith coming back that will not happen and we should see a consistent push from the interior defensive line.
