Both can be true here. I wanted Daniels to be the guy so badly with his electric running ability, but he just isn’t the guy.
Did he cost us the game, no, did he hurt us, yes.
For everyone blaming the playcalling, which was suspect at times, go back and watch Purdue. The offensive play calls are different when Nuss is in, to take advantage of his throwing ability.
Daniels can not, attack the middle of the field or down the sidelines with any consistency. The drop by Brian was on Daniels, yes he should’ve caught it, but a crappy throw that allowed the DB to get back in coverage and break the line of sight caused it more. Don’t forget the announcers literally 3 times saying Nabors 1 on 1 down the sideline was open and Daniels threw two terrible and uncatchable balls.
Nuss may not be the answer, but at this point he is the future and 100% deserves to start against Grambling as a prove it game. Daniels can be electric in the redzone, especially if they play some wildcat with Nuss and him switching off with him originally at WR.

I don’t see Kelly making a change like that for game two, but I’ve been wrong many times before.
Kelly seems like he’s going to take the difficult road and square peg/round hole it until it’s too late with Daniels as starter.
