The quarterback with the most poise
And chemistry with the team starts for the Mississippi State game. Or just run a 2 quarterback system

It’s been a year and half and our coach still doesn’t know that Nuss has much higher upside than Daniels.

You think he’ll magically figure it out during the Grambling game?! lol

I fully expect Nuss to see significant playing time against Grambling and our other two non-conference foes. The only way he sees the field in a SEC game will be when JD gets hurt.

It’ll be just like last year for Southern:

1) Pump up Daniels’s stats and make it seem like he’s not an awful downfield passer.

2) Send Nuss in with the scrubs to make him seem worse than he really is.

3) Then all the JD apologists come on tRant and the Scoreboard to say “See? I told y’all so!”

4) And finally JD lays a fat egg the rest of the season.

I for one, just love when nuss drops back, stares at whichever receiver is running the deepest route and throws it up. No matter if he’s open or in triple coverage. The amount of people on this app that no 0 about QB play or football in general crack me up.

I don't disagree with the 1st 3. That seems likely. JD won't lay an egg. he'll do well against some and not so well against others just like last year.

It's not like we're not playing the opponents starters in those situations.

And even if so, LSUs backups are better than every Southern player so there's no excuse for under performing or throwing multiple balls at the defense. If you're good, you'll have zero problems crushing Southern with any 10 other LSU offensive players on the field.

Why do you guys say that? In what body of work has Nuss truly made you think he's better than Daniels? Please educate me.

I was all on board with JD and expected to see him much better to start the season now that he had the same coaches and almost the entire O returning. He was set up for success and acknowledged he needed to be more aggressive and challenge defenses. Instead he looked like the same QB. Doesn't know how to get pre-snap reads and find the hot route. Indecision leading to sacks. One read and run. Will not throw deep and when finally does under throws a WR that got behind the D (yes it still should have been caught, but he got led back in to the DB).

Now that he's been set up for success he's shown he's not progressed unless this is an anomaly. He does just enough to make you have hope.

Nuss may not be the answer, but there is a higher likelihood that a QB that has shown flashes of elite play but has little PT will improve vs a guy that is a 5th yr senior having a big leap. I thought JD was going to make that leap. I'm starting to think I was wrong.

They should take no pleasure from beating Grambling.

Exactly

I have no issue with anyone wanting to give Nuss a shot, but those who are so certain he'd be so good or better than Daniels are just hoping he is, they have no idea if he actually is.

He gets the ball down field better, no question. But we have no idea if he can limit turnovers. Mayge he can and maybe you want to see if he can, that's fine. But there's a decent chance he's not any better than Daniels.

BS. Daniels is Kelly's guy. He went into the portal and picked him out. Now Kelly's stuck with him. This bunch of coaches didn't learn anything from last year.

You'll never know if he doesn't play, and the only way to learn is to play.

I do know this: when Nuss is in the game, the defense has to cover the whole field. With JD, the defense knows it only has to cover to the sticks.

You know, I have a problem with fan baws that have never attended a practice, never sat in the QB room, some of whom have never even seen an LSU game in person being so sure about personnel changes.

It wasn't too long ago the same baws were convinced that Max Johnson, Myles Brennan, Walker Howard were all going to be the second coming of Tom Brady.

Think about it.
