If he has a 3/4 ton, he's overloaded

After seeing an early 2000s halfton pulling what I'd estimate to be an easy 22k lbs down I10 this morning on a 40ish foot gooseneck... Airbags and trailer brakes are a helluva thing.

I used to tow 10-15k almost every day for the parish with an old ford i6 f250. And that was as a 16 year old kid.

I'm not disagreeing but simply saying the towing package the 3/4 offers with the 5th wheel hitch and airbags with the coil overs are a viable option toqing a 5th wheel.

Airbags change the game. Airbags + coils is a sweet ride. Smooth at empty and smooth at heavy as you can get it.

Literally never happens. That’s also not a Ram problem. It’s a solid front axle problem. So Ford and Ram are the culprits.

I have a Ram 2500 with the Carli 3.5” commuter kit on 37’s. Deleted and tuned. I get 16mpg in the city and 19-21mpg on the highway if it’s a good road.

Towing a Mahindra 52hp tractor at interstate speeds I get 14mpg. The only issues I’ve had were recalls and that didn’t take long to correct.

I just can’t wrap my head around getting a 3/4 ton with a gas engine. I don’t see the point. Test drove a high country Chevy yesterday. Liked it. Going to do the at4 and f250 next week.

They're excellent. Much cheaper is the main thing, both up front and long term.

Lighter weight, higher payload, more reliable. They make perfect sense. It's easier to argue that there's no point in a 3/4 ton diesel.

As Downshift mentions, the 3/4 ton in a gas offers better payload capacity than the diesels, cheaper maintenance, same or better reliability, cheaper operating costs. I know RAM's gasser goes through the same 300,000 mile test the Cummins goes through.

Gas engines have come a long way. The common theme these days is if you really need a diesel, you need a 3500 truck due to payload capacity.

I am looking at buying a new truck at the end of the year. I am going to have to order to get what I want. I am now being told by dealerships I can lock in rebates. However I have been told it is a scam and they screw you when the trucks get delivered. Anyone seen this? If you sign a contract for a certain price I don't see how they can screw you.

If they are wanting you to lock in rebates it probably means they know the rebates are going to be a lot higher in the future.

You aren't signing anything important or attached to a vin number when you order a vehicle.

I watched my ranger fluctuate by 20-30% over 24 months.

So the dealership is full of shite and you aren't actually locking in rebates. Good to know, I fricking hate dealerships.

Not necessarily. Some of them will "lock in" a price. Mark dodge in lake Charles is supposedly a very good no-bullshite place but I've never bought from them.

I've purchased three vehicles from Mark Dodge. They're indeed a no bullshite place. One of the best dealer experiences I've had. Granger Ford in Iowa is another good one.

I recently bought a 23 F150 w/EcoBoost and so far, I could not be happier. Ride is excellent and quiet. Mileage is good for how I drive.

I just checked out their website. I guess they are easy to deal with. They had a 2023 F450 platinum for $196k lol. No haggle pricing .

I don't know what's up there. Those look like sold orders.

Either way, I paid 4% under invoice for my F-350 Tremor during the shortage.
