My family is so divided on this that any time there is a dinner involving potato salad there will be one bowl made with dill pickle and one bowl made with sweet relish. Both clearly labeled. 
I’m team sweet relish. Dill appears to always be the less popular option of the two.

I cut up dill and sweet pickles, no relish, and add a teaspoon of dill juice.
