Maybe - or it will make it easier to offer low cost, no-ESPN packages and bring in subscribers who don't watch sports.
This whole article is about realizing what a draw sports is

These people if they are Gen X or younger find their non-sports content through streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV, Max, Hulu, Paramount, etc.
Sure. But there are still a good number of olds who just want the Weather Channel or XiNN.

Espn is a dying product. Would be a complete waste of money to buy it. Not that different with Elon paying 40+ billion for twatter which most people don’t even use

Maybe apple will offer something better than espn+. Just give me a bundle with espn, espn2, secn, espn3 and all 95% of my lsu sports are covered.

Terrible terrible terrible. Would make being a fan of multiple sports cost prohibitive. It’ll be like $75 per sport for whatever sport or more. Can imagine how screwed they will be with their CFB pricing.

The best part about watching MLB games on Apple is that you can choose to listen to either team’s local radio broadcast. It’s pretty awesome. If they can bring some new stuff to the table like that with the other sports you can count me in.

For whatever reason, the media has pushed apple buying Disney for years
For those so conspiratorial inclined, maybe the same approach as electric cars. With a flip of a switch, poof they're gone. Our pleasures(ie freedoms) are what they will try to break us with. Taking them away that is.

This just sounds like rumors and a few peoples thoughts.
It's exactly that. Marca is a garbage aggregator site so they changed it to a more definitive clickbait headline.

Probably. I’m sure they’d charge as much as providers do for like Sunday ticket or mlbtv. But if they put it all on ESPN+ and charged a little more for it, that would be alright.

Would make sense. Disney is desperate for cash right now.

When does this become a monopoly

What other sports stations are owned by Apple?

I'd love for the SEC to have something similar to their MLS streaming package
Why? That would be terrible

I use Comcast XFINITY and appletv never works or is unwatchable due to buffering issues

Terrible idea. The Big Ten will have its top three games on free OTA TV via Fox, CBS, and NBC. They will get so much more exposure to recruits. Some weekends due to the ESPN/ABC deal the SEC may get only 1 game per week on OTA. All other games on ESPN networks. Hard to beat free TV.
Posted on 8/21/23 at 11:12 am to Ancient Astronaut
Because OTA numbers are shrinking. It also doesn't mean you can't sell specific games to a CBS, etc.

The biggest issue with all of this stuff moving to streaming is losing the ability to casually flip between games.
Having to stream stuff makes the decision much more active and degrades the fan experience.
It also makes it harder to pull in casual fans.

Your title is way more definitive than the actual report.

3rd in the pecking order
Both fans will be very excited.

Which is precisely while they will do it. $3/month here, $5/month there, eventually adding up to more than what you were paying for cable.
I absolutely hate subscription based service business model.
