Boy oh boy! The OT was spot on. Felt stuck in a 72 hour time warp. I don't even know where to begin.

Jackson is really bad.
Jackson actually is what the OT thinks Shreveport, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge are. Except maybe worse.

Jackson is the end stage result of progressivism
NOLA, BR and Shreveport are maybe 10 years behind Jackson

Jackson always feels about 20 years in the past and even in the better areas.

Genuine question, what makes it so bad? I never get over to Jackson but hear a lot of terrible shite.

I went there for a bachelor party at a strip club once. Stopped and asked directions to said club (this was pre-smartphone days) and a dude said he'd give us directions for $5. That's all you need to know about Jackson.

Chokwe Lumumba (/'?o?.kwe?.l?'mu?m.b??/; August 2, 1947 – February 25, 2014) was an American attorney, activist, and politician, who was affiliated with the black separatist organization Republic of New Afrika and served as its second vice president. He served as a human rights lawyer in Michigan and Mississippi. In 2013, after serving on the City Council, he was elected as Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan, as Edwin Finley Taliaferro, and was raised there. He changed his name in 1969 after joining the Republic of New Afrika.

The streets are the worst I've ever seen. Ia lready knew about the water situation, so we bought a case to keep in the hotel room. Oh yeah the hotel was fairly new. It was a Homewood Suites near the VA Hospital. Yesterday morning, as I was loading the car to return home, the employees were gathered outside by the back door smoking that green. It was 8:30 AM. The food was lackluster. No one had any urgency. Everything just looked old and unkempt.

What made it so bad? Is it not obvious? Stop and think about it for just a minute.

Last weekend of November there were just as many racks in the parking lot in the bed of pickups as on the stage.

Actually, that is how the organization spells it.
quote:
The Republic of New Afrika (RNA), founded in 1968 as the Republic of New Africa (RNA), was a black nationalist organization and black separatist movement in the United States popularized by black militant groups. The larger New Afrika movement in particular has three goals:
Creation of an independent black-majority country situated in the Southeastern United States, in the heart of an area of black-majority population.
Payment by the federal government of several billion dollars in reparations to African-American descendants of slaves for the damages inflicted on Africans and their descendants by chattel enslavement, Jim Crow laws, and modern-day forms of racism.
A referendum of all African Americans to determine their desires for citizenship; movement leaders say their ancestors were not offered a choice in this matter after emancipation in 1865 following the American Civil War.
The vision for this country was first promulgated by the Malcolm X Society on March 31, 1968, at a Black Government Conference held in Detroit, Michigan. The conference participants drafted a constitution and declaration of independence, and they identified five Southern states Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina (with adjoining areas in East Texas and North Florida) as subjugated national territory.
