Natural gas, home generators, thoughts

We have had 2 mediocre storms come thru, knock out our power for days, and lost a lot of money on food and freezer, and had no ac, with themps in 90's and humid as frick.
so, i'm looking into getting one of these, so when we lose electricity, we still have power to fridge/freezer, and AC.
thoughts?

Tri fuel portable generator to power home is the way to go if you have NG furnace and water heaters. Can power central HVAC unit with 13,000W no problem. 1/4 price of generac.

We're representing a guy who put down a $7k deposit on a generator, they never delivered it, won't give the deposit back and are sending him bills on the unpaid balance.

All of my neighbors here in south Florida have Natural gas powered Generac's. I think you are looking at 10-15K depending on what size you get

I won’t own a home without one. I like having it ready to go without having to try and start it. If I’m out of town hunting and the power goes out it just automatically kicks on. It tests weekly and we have it serviced once or twice per year.

It's a shame but the power grid infrastructure where I live seems to becoming worse and worse as well. Small storms causing long outages or just random outages due to equipment failure.
So yes I'll be supplementing their shitty grid with a whole home generator.

i hear you, Our house and 3 down from us are the only ones losing power. Everyone else on street, and streets over have power.
I sat on couch, with no power, watching the neighbors all have electric and ac, and enjoying themselves in the ac.
Us and 3 homes down, nothing. Strip mall behind us had no power, which makes it a super weird grid.

Do it. Any home I buy/build will have one. I prefer Kohler

Brandon will be trying to ban it by EOY.

You can find portable generators that *can* power most of your house (1 out of 2 HVACs, in my case) that are much cheaper than Generacs.
Be strongly advised that the price will vary widely. Someone here quoted 14k, when four of my neighbors got Generacs for under $10k on 4500+ square foot homes.
There are installation issues that can massively impact your price. Is the gas meter on the same side of the house as the electric panel, for instance?
Wait until demand drops after hurricane season.

Diesel when many in your hood have one and they will you will see it fail because others are swiping gas not enough volume to satisfy all the gensets that’s why you want diesel don’t be dependent on natural gas. The government can commandeer any utility go diesel it may be a little bit of a hassle but if you are that much of a Princess go buy natural gas diesel is more efficient as a fuel

Got one after the flood. 13K, runs the whole house and the pool. It's comforting knowing that we have it for when the next big one comes.

Those fake, red states might bend the knee, no knee bending here. It's so super Red, the liberals in KC and St.Louis loathe their own state. LOLOLOL

Foe these purposes, regardless of brand, you are getting an entry level generator in a box. Want one that can run for a month with little oil then you need to spend a lot more

Getting one installed right now. 25kw liquid cooled. I'm not playing the oh let me wheel out the portable and ration out power game.
Everyone I know that has them says it's one of the best purchases they've ever done for their home.

Been looking at the 26kw ones, looks like it could power ac/heat, fridge/freezer and bedroom, living room pretty easy.
