There has always been some differences among the recruiting publications (espn, on3, rivals, 247), but this year it appears more extreme. On3 has each player and their ranking on all recruiting sites. This year it seems more disparity (not always). A good example is recent commitment Jelani Watkins (55,22,10,64). Do each have the same hs tapes? does ranking have to do with attendance at recruiting site camps? Or, horribly, is it politics?

ESPN and Rivals are trash.

Whatever they rank someone is based off lazy intel. They don't watch film or visit prospects. Don't have the budget for it.

For 247 and ON3. Everyone has a different thing they look for in each kid. For example, I might think Livvy Dunne is a 10 but you think she's a 9. I might think Lena Dunham is a 1 and you might think she's a 3.

I trust CBK and his staff to evaluate and develop players.

There are a variety of reasons. In Watkins case it's likely size is the reason for the disparity. Others include, laziness, differing determining factors for the evaluator, politics, heresay, off field factors(grades/behavior) etc. With Rivals in particular, it could be a kid didn't perform well(or did) at their sponsored events which they hold to higher esteem. Most of all, the "scouting" is being done by journalists. You gonna get disparity when fans are in charge of the scouting.
