We got cheap airline tickets to Fort Lauderdale when southwest had their sale earlier in the year. We will be there Thursday to Tuesday in October.
Now we have to decide what to do while there. Some ideas are go down to the keys, do a cruise to Bahamas, maybe rent a car and visit different beach towns in south florida?
Any ideas would be great! It's 4 adults, no kids.

A day trip to the Keys is a great idea.

Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Little Havana, Brickell, Wynwood and South Beach are all great places to hang out in Miami.

The Las Olas area in downtown Ft Lauderdale is very nice, too.

You can also drive north to West Palm Beach and stop at the different beach towns along the way.

- airboats on the everglades
- snorkeling

second little havana.

- share a cortadito with a couple old cubans at the walk-up window
(FROM GOOGLE: A cortadito is a Cuban style afternoon kick in the pants. )

- pick a cigar from 'cabana cigar' after watching the Cuban women make them in front of you.

- scarface aside, the cuban community is some of the best people you'll ever meet.

Key West.
Went there for 5 days in April and had a great time.

We flew directly in to Kew West, but I understand that the drive from Ft. L to Key West is a scenic ont. You don't want a car while you are in KW.

That is what I would do.

I love KW, but flying into FLL to drive to KW for the weekend sucks.

Make the most of your time in the Broward/Dade area.

I would probably just stay around FLL and explore Las Olas and Ft Lauderdale beach. There’s a lot to take in just north and just south of that area without wasting time traveling to the keys or coming up to West Palm or jupiter. Pompano, highland beach, lighthouse point, Dania beach, Hollywood. Tons to do all around there with some old Florida beaches in the vicinity

Just find a flight to Key West if you're going to be flying that way already. FTL has a lot to do already.

we love KW, we flew in to FLL and did the drive which was awesome, we filled it with stops along the way. If we do that again, we would stay more in the different Keys and only do key west one day. We just don't know much about the other keys and what to do.

Las Olas area. Hotels, restaurants & bars within walking distance. Get a room overlooking the river. Multi $ million boats all over. Beach is a short uber. Bars down there too. Tour boats on the river.

Yes to all of this. You can take the water taxi up and down the intercoastal and bar hop.
