Looking at going to Uptown Climbing this weekend, taking a group of about 6 including kids etc. They told us "it gets busy after lunch on the weekends" but weren't very specific.

Obviously it varies from day to day I guess, but if anyone here goes there and could give me their impressions I'd appreciate it. I would like to know if it's "busy" like in a bunch of people around and you can still do your thing with a little bit of waiting; or, more similar to the PS5 giveaway fiasco in New York the other day.

This and other impressions of the place would be appreciated.

I didn’t know this place existed, but maybe school being back will help. Although seems like people barely ever slow down these days.

I've never seen it horribly busy in that place. If it's their first visit, they'll be stuck on the auto belay only climbs. If it's busy, they can always go upstairs and hit the bouldering walls.

It’s a really big climbing gym. Tons of auto walls and a large bouldering area upstairs. If you’re lucky, stake out the two easy “race” walls on the far end and just monopolize them. Perfect for a group of kids.

We went to a bday party there when my son was around 7. He absolutely loved it. I’m a bad dad for never bringing him back.

It gets busy in the sense that you will likely have to wait in a short line for one of the six auto belays, including the two on the race wall. When you go you pay for the day so when we go we get there in the morning and make a day of it. As I remember, the gym becomes members only at a certain point (4PMish) in the afternoons most days but that info is likely available on their web site.
