What happens to these two? Looks to me like they have three options

-Them, Oregon St and Wash St remain in the Pac 12 and invite G5 schools such as SMU, Tulane, Memphis, Rice, etc

-Join the Mountain West (I see this as a last resort for them)

-Go the Independent route

Can they put their arrogance aside and join the MWC?
So much for Cal being the flagship school.

Big XII would be a logical move but this would be a power move by the SEC to pick them up and break into California.

Forget geographical alignments, conferences are a free for all now.

Stanford goes independent like ND and they both could join the Big 10 at some point. Cal scales down the barbaric practice of college football and doesn’t have a program in 10 years.

No one wants such valueless schools in their conference

Pathetic

They will have more time to work on reparations

Think Wazzu and OSU will go to Mountain West or AAC
Stanford and Cal could care less about all this, so I guess independent?

I think they try to beg the ACC for a slot. Not sure what happens though.

Stanford's reign as the school with the most National Titles (134) is gonna come to end.

They're gonna have to slash their Title IX darling status, and cut sports left and right...and athletes won't be coming left and right to play in the Mountain West and they don't have a National football brand to pay for all the other sports and be Independent ala Notre Dame.

Stanford was on its way to cutting 11 sports before the students sued..and before all this happened.

quote:

"We have new optimism based on new circumstances, including vigorous and broad-based philanthropic interest in Stanford Athletics on the part of our alumni, which have convinced us that raising the increased funds necessary to support all 36 of our varsity teams is an approach that can succeed," Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne said.

They needed constant donations even with PAC12 money because they're and have been so ridiculously overextended in sports.

Good luck with Mountain West money or Independence.

The Big 12 show=ud make a big show of wanting nothing to do with Stanford and Cal. The PAC12 was sneering at the thought of any of the Big12 religious schools joining them, and knowing who they are that was probably Stanford and Cal, so they can get fricked and should be told to do so.

It's a shame. Harbaugh coached at Stanford and he did a good job and Shaw took them to a Rose Bowl. Cal did seem to not want to have good football and spend the minimum to keep it going. Stanford though should not be in this bad shape. This is the college of Jim Plunkett, John Elway, Bill Walsh, and Christian McCaffrey. Stanford has the money to be good in football.

I could see Cal dropping down in a division to FCS and playing Holy Cross, the Ivies and similar schools.

If I’m not mistaken Cal lost to a SWAC school in basketball this past season. The Jason Kidd years are long gone.
