I don't disagree but the value for 3 pennant chases instead of 2 might motivate a contender to throw the right deal at an obvious seller in rebuild mode.

All depends on how much money the Mets eat. If they’re gonna eat 35 million or whatever like they did with Scherzer they’re going to get some good prospects back. Acuna is pretty equivalent to Gilbert public rankings wise and Verlander has been better than Scherzer. So Gilbert plus a couple lower level guys I would think is what they’re asking if they’re willing to eat a similar amount of money on Verlander’s deal

So say if the Mets didn’t eat as much or the salary. Obviously not likely but say the astros pay half of this years salary. Maybe a little more. Could you then get a deal done without using Gilbert?

Also what kind of value would Julks have?

I know the system isn’t very high on them but I’m a big believer in some of our farm talent.

Players like Gilbert, Clifford, Baez, Melton, Dirden, Loperfido, and Daniels I think can be better than average big leaguers. I think JC Correa is a better player than he gets credit for as well.

If there’s any position that we can move prospects from, it seems to be OF. Bit of a glut with Gilbert developing quickly.

But we haven't seen Maldonado in left field yet.

So many questions

Very true. That's the most likely tact in the next 24 hours.

Idiot Report

quote:

@JBristolKHOU
Dusty Baker admitted its "a little disheartening" to see other clubs in AL West making major moves & he just hopes his guys "don't get disheartened by that.

"Right now we just got to go play."

This is irrelevant and likely wrong as frick right now. Once the deadline passes, then it matters. Idiot.

Yep. His opt out comes Tuesday.

quote:

In six starts, Keuchel allowed four earned runs (1.13 ERA) on 28 hits in 32 innings. He posted a 28-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Twins have 3 options:

quote:

Option 1: Add Keuchel to the Twins' 26-man roster
Option 2: Trade Keuchel
Option 3: Allow Keuchel to Exercise His Opt-Out

Oh, frick Baker. They made moves last year and he sat a couple of those guys until they had to pick splinters out of their asses. He’s a lowlife piece of shite.

He seems to have a pattern of holding himself above management and seemingly disregards their wishes. He’s been allowed to do it, so far.

Dana just caught the axe. If he's saying this publicly, what's he saying at the good ole boys coffee circles with Reggie, Bags and Crane?

That's why he's been fired everywhere he's managed. Management gets tired of his stupidity.
